AP College Football Poll 2025 Top 25 Rankings Released After Championship Games
After a dramatic finish to championship weekend, there is officially a new No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time since Week 2.
Defending national champion Ohio State's stranglehold on the top spot is no more, as the Buckeyes fell to No. 3 after losing to Indiana 13-10 in Saturday's Big Ten championship game for their first loss of the season, while the Hoosiers remained undefeated at 13-0.
This marks the first time in program history that Indiana has earned the No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25.

Indiana's win over Ohio State also locked up the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. Hoosiers star quarterback Fernando Mendoza likely solidified himself as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after rallying his team from a 10-3 deficit to defeat the Buckeyes.
The other dramatic result of championship weekend saw unranked Duke topple a Virginia team that entered the ACC championship game with a 10-2 record, 27-20 in overtime. The win by the Blue Devils improved their record to 8-5 and likely caused a major shakeup in the CFP rankings, as there is now a strong chance that the ACC won't have a representative in the playoffs.
The rest of the conference championship matchups didn't feature as many nail-biting moments.
Georgia thumped Alabama 28-7 to win its second straight SEC title and move up to the No. 2 spot in the Top 25. Texas Tech dominated BYU 34-7 in the Big 12 championship, likely ending the Cougars' hopes for a CFP berth. Tulane outlasted North Texas 34-21 to secure the AAC title. James Madison, which is in its first year in the Sun Belt, won the conference title by defeating Troy 31-14.
All that matters now if how the CFP poll shakes out following the championship weekend results. 12 teams will have the opportunity to vie for the national title, but there are sure to be some squads that are snubbed from the field.
