Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
In a video posted this week on his YouTube channel, WWE Superstar Logan Paul revealed the notes he had written on his hand during a promo segment on last week's SmackDown.
Written on Paul's hand were the phrases: The Vision = future, CM Punk is trash, Brock Lesnar, Jake Paul > AJ and Drink Prime.
On last week's SmackDown, Paul accompanied Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman of The Vision to the ring to cut a promo about the upcoming WarGames match at SummerSlam.
The segment went viral not because of what was said, but mostly because of fans catching a glimpse of the writing Paul had on his hand.
It was reminiscent of a moment during the famous Rock vs. John Cena feud when Cena called The Rock out for having some lines written on his arm.
Paul recently joined forces with The Vision to take on a team led by CM Punk in WarGames. The Usos and Cody Rhodes eventually joined forces with Punk, prompting Drew McIntyre to get involved as well.
McIntyre had been in a rivalry with Rhodes over the WWE Championship, and he launched a surprise attack against Rhodes on his bus last week on SmackDown.
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar rounded out the babyface and heel teams, respectively, setting the stage for one of the most star-studded WarGames matches of all time.
While Paul's wrestling experience pales in comparison to everyone else in the match, his athleticism figures to be on full display, and it won't be surprising if he pulls off a high-risk move that gets the crowd buzzing at Petco Park in San Diego.
Bronson Reed Talks Reaction to Lesnar's Raw Spill
Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring during the closing segment of Monday's episode of Raw, but the normally fearsome Beast Incarnate was on the wrong end of a blooper.
When Lesnar did his usual taunt at the top of the ramp, he slipped and fell before rolling back to his feet and playfully putting his cowboy hat on Bron Breakker's head.
Bronson Reed, who was close by when Brock took a tumble, gave some inside information regarding the funny moment when he appeared this week on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News).
"Everyone was quite chill about it," Reed said. "I think Brock himself said it. He walked through the curtains and he had slipped on something. … Drew [McIntyre] said in his entrance he almost slipped. So I don't know if someone had wet their hair or some oil or something was out there on that entrance way.
"If that was someone else and they slipped, they'd probably fall on their ass and that'd be it. People wouldn't engage anymore from there. … But because it's Brock Lesnar, he almost back-rolled and got straight back to his feet, took his cowboy hat off, and you knew, 'Oh, he's still going to beat the hell out of people.'"
Lesnar was on hand to engage in a massive brawl between all 10 participants who will be in the men's WarGames match at Survivor Series on Saturday.
It was pure chaos with some of the biggest stars in WWE throwing hands, and it served as a precursor for the type of action fans can expect in the likely main event of Survivor Series.
A fall like the one Lesnar experienced would be enough to ruin the night of a lesser Superstar, but since Brock has built up so much credibility and equity as an all-time great over the years, it was merely a blip on the radar for him.
Chelsea Green Discusses Ryder's Surprise WWE Return
Zack Ryder shocked the WWE Universe two weeks ago when he entered the Last Time Is Now tournament, and his wife, WWE Superstar Chelsea Green, provided some insight this week into how it all came together.
During an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Green said Ryder's WWE return was due to a combination of both her and Ryder being persistent, and the fact that Ryder and John Cena are real-life friends.
"He's been in contact with WWE constantly," Green said. "The whole five years he's been in contact with WWE. He's always making sure that Triple H knows what he's doing or that he's available for a Rumble and things like that. I just think it was a perfect storm—this made the most sense because he does have a personal friendship and relationship with John Cena. So why wouldn't he want to be John Cena's final opponent?
"And so it worked perfectly—between me pestering WWE, John Cena really pestering WWE, and Matt pestering WWE. They caved and it worked. That's what I'm saying: you've got to keep asking. If you don't ask—closed mouths don't get fed. We all get the f--king grease."
After 13 years on the WWE main roster, Ryder was released in 2020, and he proceeded to become arguably the biggest star on the independent scene under his real name, Matt Cardona.
Ryder always made it clear that he would be open to a WWE return under the right circumstances, though, and they presented themselves in the form of a tournament to determine the final opponent of Cena's legendary career.
Although Ryder lost in the first round to LA Knight, he received a big reaction, which seemingly leaves the door open for more WWE appearances in the future.
Just three days after Ryder's return, Dolph Ziggler re-emerged in the tournament against Solo Sikoa, and he also came out on the losing end.
Both Ryder and Ziggler primarily wrestle in TNA, and WWE's partnership with TNA undoubtedly played at least some role in them competing in the tournament.
With the Royal Rumble just a couple of months away, both Ryder and Ziggler could be prime options as surprise entrants in that match as well.
