Predicting WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025 Match Card Winners, Storylines to Emerge
For the first time, WWE heads to Petco Park in San Diego on Saturday for Survivor Series: WarGames, headlined by the double steel cage same-titled men's and women's matches.
What will happen when top babyfaces from the men's and women's divisions do battle with the most vile villains on the roster?
Will John Cena successfully defend his Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio or will the AAA Mega champion regain his title?
Find out with this preview, including predictions for each match and any major storylines that may develop.
Intercontinental Championship: John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio
1 of 4
Cena's win over Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship in Boston was one of best moments of the veteran's retirement tour.
It came in front of a red-hot crowd, featured some great in-ring action and resulted in history being made as Cena captured the one title that had eluded him throughout his legendary career.
Running it back in San Diego, Mysterio's hometown, with the opportunity for Cena to put the second-generation star over in a big way at one of WWE's most prestigious premium live events, just feels right.
With a two-week story that is as good, if not better than, those highlighted in the WarGames main events, it has the opportunity to be the hottest match on the card.
Cena wants to use his final few outings as a means of putting over young stars looking for opportunity, in the same way he did when he challenged Kurt Angle in his first night on the main roster.
There are few better ways to catapult a young star to the next level than by giving him the Cena seal of approval.
That will happen at Petco Park and, in the process, potentially introduces the WWE Universe to the Dirty Dom era.
Keep an eye out for any Superstars involved in the Last Time Is Now Tournament, though, as their involvement here could tip WWE's hand regarding Cena's final opponent at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13.
Prediction: Mysterio regains the title
Women's World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Nikki Bella
2 of 4
For weeks after her return to WWE at Evolution in July, Nikki Bella feigned friendship with Stephanie Vaquer, teaming with her and encouraging her Women's World Championship dreams.
Once La Primera captured the top prize in the women's division, Bella bid her time and on the November 10 episode of Raw, she leveled her with a forearm and expressed her desire to be champion.
A second sneak attack a week later put Bella in the driver's seat entering Survivor Series, with momentum on her side and Vaquer on the defensive.
While there is always money in the babyface chasing the gold against a hated heel, Vaquer is not going to lose in her second defense of the title. Expect this feud to continue past Survivor Series, but the champion retains Saturday night.
Prediction: Vaquer retains the title
Women's WarGames Match
3 of 4
Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend
For months, women's tag team champions Asuka and Kairi Sane have tormented Ripley and Sky, and they have done the same to former titleholders Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in recent weeks.
Nia Jax and Lash Legend have joined them in their mission and interfered on behalf of The Kabuki Warriors in their title win.
The introduction of Lee as a partner to the babyfaces last Monday drew the attention of Lynch, who lost the Women's Intercontinental Championship to Maxxine Dupri after interference from the former Divas champion.
The Man joined the heels officially Friday night on SmackDown.
There hasn't been much in the way of cohesive storytelling leading to this one, with several different storylines being wedged into one match for the sake of having a women's WarGames contest, but the talent involved should ensure it's quality.
Unlike the men's match, though, one would be hard-pressed to identify a major angle or storyline advancement to come out of this one, except for the escalation of Lee vs. Lynch and a potential one-on-one match for a show sometime in the near future.
As such, this feels like the big babyface win of the night.
Prediction: Lee, Ripley, Sky, Bliss, and Flair win
Men's WarGames Match

Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes, world heavyweight champion CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and The Usos vs. Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed
Lesnar returned to WWE for the first time since squashing John Cena at Wrestlepalooza, revealing himself to be Paul Heyman's secret weapon on the heel side of things for the men's WarGames match.
The babyfaces one-upped the opposition with the return of Reigns, who leveled The Beast Incarnate with a devastating Superman Punch.
One of the most star-studded matchups in the history of Survivor Series, there is an argument to be made for either man guiding his team to victory inside WarGames. Reigns has won the match twice while Punk and Rhodes have both scored victories in the last two years.
The heels team is mostly inexperienced when it comes to WarGames, with only McIntyre and Reed having competed in the contest previously.
Inexperience or not, the heel group is brimming with unstoppable forces and one of the most fearless competitors in WWE in Paul. While Reigns, the Usos, Punk, and Rhodes are all future Hall of Famers, it remains to be seen whether they can withstand the fury they will encounter inside the steel cage.
The question is how the many story threads will present themselves and how likely it is that we witness a major angle that propels things forward and potentially hints at the direction for the Road to WrestleMania 42.
An angle such as Jey Uso further embracing his inner Tribal Chief by aligning himself with Heyman for the sake of regaining the world title maybe?
Prediction: Lesnar, Breakker, Reed, Paul, and McIntyre
