Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Jake Paul declared this week that he would beat some of the biggest stars in WWE in a boxing match.
During an interview with Jimmy V3 (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Paul was asked if he would ever fight Roman Reigns or Kevin Owens in hopes of getting revenge on behalf of himself and his brother, WWE Superstar Logan Paul.
Jake gave Reigns and Owens their flowers in terms of being great pro wrestlers, but expressed supreme confidence that he would take them down in the boxing ring.
"You know, they're amazing, amazing wrestlers," Paul said. "I don't think I could take them. I think Logan can take them, but in the boxing ring they will get knocked the f--k out."
Despite starting off as a YouTuber and internet personality, Jake has developed into one of the biggest names in boxing over the past several years.
At 28 years old, the younger of the Paul brothers has been involved with boxing since making his amateur debut in 2018.
Two years later, Paul had a successful pro boxing debut, beating YouTuber AnEsonGib by technical knockout.
Overall, Jake has compiled a 12-1 win with seven wins by way of knockout. Many of those victories have come against aging former MMA fighters, but a few have been against boxers as well.
Most notably, Paul beat heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson by unanimous decision last year, although Tyson was 58 at the time of the fight.
It is hard to say if Reigns or Owens would put up a better fight in a boxing match. They are both significantly younger than Tyson, but neither of them have any known experience in boxing.
While it seems unlikely that Reigns or Owens will ever box Jake, perhaps there is a chance that Jake will cross over into the world of pro wrestling at some point like Logan in an attempt to teach them a lesson.
Rhodes Praises The Rock's Final Boss Character
Cody Rhodes has been the biggest rival of The Rock's Final Boss character thus far, but The American Nightmare seems to believe there is still an important story to be told in WWE as it relates to The Rock.
During an appearance this week on All The Smoke with former NBA player Matt Barnes (h/t Upton), Rhodes was asked to give his Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling.
Upon naming The Rock, Cody also gave some insight into The Rock's latest gimmick and what the future could hold for it.
"I think The Rock is on there, Mount Rushmore-wise," Rhodes said. "He came back to a very tumultuous WWE, a year or so ago, and decided, nope, I'm not gonna deal with that. I'm instead gonna create a new character even though I'm already one of the greatest characters ever, that being The Final Boss. ... We've just scratched the surface on The Final Boss. There's something incredibly special there, so The Rock is on my Mount Rushmore."
Leading up to WrestleMania 40, The Rock returned to WWE and it initially looked as though he was going to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship. However, when fans made it clear they wanted Rhodes in that spot, The Rock instead positioned himself as a heel in opposition of Cody.
The Final Boss character was born at that point, and it led to some of the most entertaining segments in wrestling in recent years, including The Rock whipping Rhodes with his weight belt during the build toward WrestleMania 40.
While The Rock and Reigns teamed up to beat Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania, Rhodes bounced back to beat Reigns for the WWE title the next night.
The Rock resurfaced earlier this year and made a proposal to Rhodes, asking the champ to sell him his soul. When Rhodes refused to do so at Elimination Chamber, John Cena shockingly attacked Cody at The Rock's behest.
It was widely expected that The Rock would be a huge part of the build toward Rhodes vs. Cena at WrestleMania 41 alongside Cena, but The Rock removed himself from the equation and has not been seen on WWE programming since.
That was partially due to his busy schedule as a hugely successful actor, but as Cody pointed out, there is undoubtedly a lot more meat left on the bone for The Final Boss if and when The Rock decides to re-enter the WWE fold.
Hurricane Pokes Fun at WWE Raw Report
Former WWE Superstar and current WWE backstage producer Shane "Hurricane" Helms poked fun at a report regarding this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Cultaholic Wrestling) reported that the opening segment of Raw involving new world heavyweight champion CM Punk went 10 minutes longer than it was supposed to, which left people "scrambling" backstage.
In a post on X, Hurricane responded sarcastically, suggesting that the report greatly exaggerated what actually happened:
After Punk beat Jey Uso at Saturday Night's Main Event to win the vacant world title, he opened Raw to celebrate his victory.
Punk also made it clear he would be a fighting champion and welcomed the best of the best to step up and challenge him.
He was sickened when Logan Paul interrupted him, but that wasn't all, as Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman of The Vision made their way to the ring as well.
The Vision attacked Punk and Paul until Punk managed to run them off with a steel chair.
That set up the main event of the show, which saw Punk and Uso face Breakker and Reed. It devolved into chaos with Bron and Bronson wrecking shop until Paul ran down to the ring in an apparent effort to get revenge.
However, he laid Punk out with brass knuckles instead and handed them to Heyman, perhaps signaling an alliance between Paul and The Vision.
