Buy or Sell Concerns with Bron Breaker and Bronson Reed, More WWE, AEW Rumors
The pro wrestling rumor mill is an interesting balancing act right now.
On the WWE side of things, Saturday Night's Main Event XLI commands attention over the weekend and features droves of matches with long-reaching implications, headlined by CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for a vacant title, never mind Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre.
But this time of year? Annually, as the temperature drops, the focus starts turning to next year's major events, too. That means the first huge whispers on PLE stops such as Elimination Chamber.
Keep in mind, too, that weekly staples such as huge Superstars possibly switching companies make the rounds, too.
It can be, in a word, overwhelming. As such, here's a look at the must-know buzz and whether fans should buy or sell on each.
Elimination Chamber plans?
1 of 5
The Rumor
Let the Elimination Chamber buzz commence. According to PW Insider (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), WWE has targeted Chicago as the host city, not just for that PLE, but for an entire weekend of events that include NXT, AAA and others.
Reaction
Ever since the TKO merger, fans have heard whispers about WWE considering complete weekend takeovers of cities around themed events. Think, UFC style, if not next to a UFC event itself, too. Chicago, for many reasons, has long been one of the rightfully theorized locations for such an idea.
Buy or Sell?
Easiest buy of the week. Chicago is a powerhouse. And CM Punk might just be walking into that event a world champion. If not, he'll be a major player either way, plus the AJ Lee factor. And just generally speaking, such a big landmark on the way to WrestleMania was always going to get the big-city treatment like this.
Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed booking rumblings
2 of 5
The Rumor
It was easy to expect major things from Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed after the Seth Rollins injury. But according to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), the two weren't involved in the battle for the vacant title over concerns about them getting cheered.
Reaction
This sort of matches the whole vibe right now, in terms of WWE not seeming to know where it wants to go with things after the Rollins injury. For now, the company has especially pumped the brakes on, well, Breakker, instead opting to get a top title on either Punk or Jey, which makes some sense.
Buy or Sell?
Sell. What doesn't make sense, though, is WWE worrying about Breakker and Reed getting cheered. This is the behind-the-curtain era and fans are going to cheer for whoever they want, pretty much no matter how evil the character gets on the screen. Holding these two back was more about waiting for the right time and getting that big title on a veteran like Punk or Jey than major concern about crowd reactions.
Chris Jericho latest
3 of 5
The Rumor
More proof Jericho is done in AEW? As Ortman pointed out, Jericho's trademark of "The Jericho Vortex" is over, providing yet more proof that he'll be leaving the company soon.
Reaction
Fans didn't need any help thinking Jericho was done in AEW. But the Superstar himself apparently stirred up that chatter more recently by engaging with a social media post about his upcoming expiring contract.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. Jericho going back to WWE has been a "buy" for a long, long time. Conventional wisdom says his contract is up soon, just based on how these things have played out in the past and his booking. He's 54 years old and has much to do in terms of end-of-career feuds in WWE, so the upcoming Royal Rumble return speculation is more than warranted.
Chelsea Green contract buzz
4 of 5
The Rumor
Don't look for company-hopping buzz around Chelsea Green. According to Fightful Select (h/t Ortman), Green signed a new contract that will keep her in WWE through 2030.
Reaction
Talk about a quiet, ho-hum contract process. Not that it has to be a bad thing. Green has been a resounding success for WWE and she's worth locking up as quickly as possible. Still just 34 years old, in wrestler terms, she's got headline act written all over her for a long time.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. No point in letting this drag out into contract drama that fuels speculation Green could jump ship. The inaugural Women's United States Champion is a no-brainer to stick in a women's division that will need some stability at the very top through the start of the next decade.
Bianca Belair return speculation
5 of 5
The Rumor
No use holding the breath about a Belair return. According to Wrestling Observer (h/t Wrestle Ops), there is yet to be a return date of note for Belair.
Reaction
This one isn't all too shocking anymore. Not too long ago, it was reported by Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) that Belair suffered a broken knuckle at WrestleMania 41, putting her on a longer-than-anticipated comeback trail.
Buy or Sell?
There was a time when one might suggest these are the types of reports WWE might leak to swerve fans before a big, shocking return. But the reporting around the injury has been too consistent for too long and, even if she's approaching a return, a Belair comeback might be better off in 2026 at something like the Royal Rumble at this point.
