Projecting Most Likely Heel and Face Turns at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Utah
WWE has promised one of the most eventful Saturday Night's Main Events ever at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
The show will feature Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship and CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
Jade Cargill hopes to dethrone WWE women's champion Tiffany Stratton, and Penta and Rusev both look to take down intercontinental champion Dominik Mysterio.
These four title matches are the basis for a memorable night that could deliver massive title changes as well as unforgettable moments.
Those moments could well include some shocking heel and/or face turns that will redefine WWE on the road to Survivor Series.
The following are the likely turns to come out of SNME.
Heel: Jey Uso
1 of 4In WWE, there is always at least one wrestler who teases a heel turn for months, though it's unclear when the time will come to deliver.
Right now, Jey Uso is that star, but his potential heel turn is a bit more complicated.
Main Event is extremely popular at present and will likely continue to be cheered in the future beyond any full turn to the dark side.
That did not stop WWE from turning Seth Rollins earlier in the year, though, and the time is coming for Uso to embrace the Roman Reigns-inspired edge he is emulating.
Few opportunities are bigger than world title matches, so this could be the moment when Jey takes his shot by cheating to defeat CM Punk.
He could even align with Paul Heyman and The Vision, though WWE may want to keep Bron Breakker as the top man in that stable following their betrayal of Rollins.
Heel: CM Punk
2 of 4It's not controversial to say CM Punk has always thrived more as a heel than a face, and that has played a role in his recent inconsistencies on the mic.
The Best in the World has lost his edge, and the best way to get it back would be to allow him to embrace his villainous side again.
Punk has said in the past that his pursuit of world titles has corrupted him, yet he is still seeking to become world heavyweight champion again.
That makes him the front-runner to carry the world title into 2026, and WWE may want him to eventually lose the belt to Bron Breakker.
However, the other option would be Punk taking over Raw, maybe even aligning with Paul Heyman again in The Vision, while Seth Rollins recovers.
This would give new life to the Punk vs. Rollins feud and better explain why WWE is not putting Breakker in the world title scene yet.
A heel Punk cheating his way to the gold would be a great obstacle for Jey Uso and LA Knight to attempt to overcome in the coming weeks, even setting up an eventual Roman Reigns match.
Face: Dominik Mysterio
3 of 4The quiet truth is that Dominik Mysterio is already too popular to be considered a heel, but his full face turn will come when Finn Bálor is ready to betray him.
It could make sense for his Judgment Day teammate to cost Dirty Dom the Intercontinental Championship on Saturday against Penta and Rusev.
However, that might echo Bálor's betrayal of Damian Priest too much, especially without Liv Morgan returning first.
Penta is ready for his spotlight, though, and could use a run with the Intercontinental Championship.
Dirty Dom can put his main focus into the AAA Mega Championship, which The Prince could be more interested in taking from him.
The Judgment Day has stalled on this development for so long that it would be no surprise if it happens at SNME or takes another six months.
Face: Rusev
4 of 4Where does Rusev fit on Raw? Since his return to WWE, he has leaned heel but hasn't done anything bad enough to truly earn heavy boos.
The crowd reactions to him have been muted at best, and he previously found the most success as a babyface during his Rusev Day era.
Why not take the plunge and get him back to what the fans responded best to?
Rusev is in a near-tweener role at present while feuding with the heel-leaning-face Dominik Mysterio, but he would be much easier to root for if he is helping Penta in the fight with the rest of The Judgment Day.
Both men have tag team experience, especially Penta, and they make for a fascinating odd-ball tandem.
It would not be the first recent odd pairing The Judgment Day has inspired, after AJ Styles and Dragon Lee recently won the World Tag Team Championships.
This simply sounds like a better spot for Rusev than anything he has done since returning.
