Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were not part of last week's battle royal to determine CM Punk's opponent for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship, and there was reportedly a specific reason why.
According to TC of WrestleVotes, a WWE source said there was "internal concern" that fans would cheer Breakker and Reed in the battle royal, which is at least partly why they were left out.
A couple of weeks ago on Raw, Breakker and Reed shocked the wrestling world by turning on Seth Rollins and breaking up The Vision.
The attack angle was done to allow Rollins to take time off to address a legitimate injury, leaving Breakker, Reed and Paul Heyman together as a unit without Rollins leading the way.
Breakker stole Rollins' world heavyweight title belt after the attack, but the next week on Raw, general manager Adam Pearce asked him to hand it over.
Since Breakker initially resisted and made it difficult on Pearce before eventually giving in, Pearce informed Heyman that Breakker and Reed would not be part of the battle royal.
Jey Uso went on to win it, cementing his spot in the World Heavyweight Championship match against Punk on the Nov. 1 Saturday Night's Main Event.
WWE going with Punk vs. Uso means there was no immediate plan for Breakker or Reed to win the title. Because of that, they both would have had to get eliminated from the battle royal, or one of them could have won and then potentially lost to Punk at SNME.
Neither Breakker nor Reed can necessarily afford a loss right now, and either of them receiving a babyface reaction would go against what WWE is trying to accomplish as well.
Reported Details of Chelsea Green's WWE Contract
Chelsea Green is reportedly set to remain with WWE for several more years to come.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Green re-signed with WWE back in January 2025, inking a five-year deal that will leave her under contract with the company until 2030.
Green originally signed with WWE in 2018 after enjoying success in multiple promotions including TNA, where she held the Impact Knockouts Championship under the name Laurel Van Ness.
Injuries plagued Green's first stint with WWE, resulting in her release from the company in April 2021.
Green spent the next couple of years rebuilding her value in ROH and TNA before re-signing with WWE in early 2023.
The 34-year-old Canadian was a surprise entrant in the women's Royal Rumble match that year, and she was quickly eliminated in comedic fashion, which set the stage for her heel character.
Despite being a villain, Green got over with the crowd due to her entertaining backstage segments, which led to WWE making her the inaugural women's United States champion.
After 131 days as champion, Green dropped the title to Zelina Vega earlier this year, but she remains the longest-reigning champ in the title's brief history.
Although Green has not tasted championship gold since the loss to Vega, she has remained a constant presence on WWE programming every week, and the length of her contract suggests that WWE values the skill set she brings to the table.
Escobar Reportedly Was Backstage at Raw
Santos Escobar has yet to make his return to WWE programming, but he was reportedly present for Monday night's episode of Raw in Anaheim, California.
According to PWInsider.com (h/t Culatholic.com's Aidan Gibbons), Escobar was backstage at Raw on Monday, and since he did not appear on the show, it is unclear why he was in attendance.
BodySlam.net (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) previously reported that Escobar was slated to be at Raw and to potentially make his on-screen return.
While that hasn't come to fruition yet, Escobar is back with WWE after an incredibly brief departure.
Earlier this month, PWInsider.com (h/t Carrier) reported that Escobar's WWE contract had expired, but just one day later, PWInsider (h/t Carrier) followed up with a report that Escobar had re-signed after WWE made him a "significantly higher" offer than it did previously.
Escobar, 41, signed with WWE in 2019 and experienced instant success by winning the Cruiserweight Championship.
That success was far more fleeting on the main roster, but he enjoyed stints in Legado del Fantasma and the LWO, and at WrestleMania 40, he teamed with Dominik Mysterio against Rey Mysterio and Andrade.
Before the expiration of his WWE contract, Escobar had primarily been serving as a manager for Angel and Berto, but after reportedly signing a lucrative, new deal, it is perhaps safe to assume that his role will increase substantially.
