John Cena, AJ Styles and Real Winners and Losers of WWE Crown Jewel Match Card

Erik BeastonOct 11, 2025

WWE travelled to Perth, Western Australia, on Saturday for its annual Crown Jewel premium live event, headlined by the fourth meeting between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

With a packed card featuring the top stars in professional wrestling, who emerged as the real winners and losers beyond the match outcomes, and why?

Find out with this recap of the October 11 event.

Winner: Bronson Reed

1 of 5
WWE Crown Jewel

Bronson Reed achieved the biggest victory of his career on Saturday by defeating Roman Reigns in an Australian Street Fight.

Controversy amid interference from Bron Breakker and an errant spear from Jey Uso notwithstanding, The Auszilla capped off a monumental 2025 by becoming the first man since Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 to pin The Tribal Chief in a one-on-one match.

Emerging from a potentially devastating injury at last year's Survivor Series, Reed joined Seth Rollins' The Vision, immediately shot up the ranks on Raw, routinely mixing it up with top names on the flagship show.

Saturday's win, in his native country, was the culmination of a push that has seen him consistently prove himself at the top level and against Superstars only bona fide main eventers get to face.

Most importantly, it was confirmation that WWE officials and Reigns see Reed as a credible top heel. If they did not, this win would not have happened.

How WWE builds on the momentum Reed has coming out of the contest will be of the utmost importance and determine the overall effectiveness of his win.

Winner: Stephanie Vaquer

2 of 5
WWE Crown Jewel

Stephanie Vaquer captured the Women's World Championship at Wrestlepalooza on September 20 and has now the Women's Crown Jewel Championship.

A good, competitive match saw Tiffany Stratton turn in one of her better performances of late, hanging in there with one of the best workers on the roster.

This was all about Vaquer, though, who bested the top competitor on the SmackDown women's roster to further cement her status as an elite performer in WWE.

The Chilean wrestler continued to connect with the audience in Australia and received a star's welcome and celebration. She is already on the level of her most decorated peers and should be for the foreseeable future.

Wins like Saturday's only further establish just how hard the company is pushing La Primera, a sign of its belief in her to be one of its faces for years to come.

Winners: John Cena and AJ Styles

3 of 5
WWE Crown Jewel

There were few matches more eagerly anticipated than the final chapter in the rivalry between John Cena and AJ Styles. Given the quality of their original trilogy of contests, expectations were high for Saturday.

While neither man is in the prime of his career, they overdelivered for the Australian crowd.

Paying homage to the opponents with whom they had their most important matchups, they turned in a fan-service contest that captivated the crowd at the RAC Arena in Perth and created several unforgettable moments.

Cena borrowed from The Miz and Randy Orton. Styles pulled from his classics against "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe. In one instance, Cena delivered Sister Abigail, and the fans lit up the arena with fireflies, a tribute to Bray Wyatt that was as emotional as any moment on the show.

There were nods to Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, and more as both men not only paid their respects to the industry that made them superstars, but also to the iconic characters who helped define their careers along the way.

Near-falls kept the fans on the edge of their seats, hanging on every close call and false finish as two of the greatest of all time took them on an emotional roller coaster.

Ultimately, Cena caught Styles with a Tombstone Piledriver, added one final Attitude Adjustment and secured the victory.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is why we all fell in love with professional wrestling," commentator Michael Cole said. It was not hyperbole.

It was a different match than their previous classics, but it was a greatest hits compilation that highlighted why Cena and Styles are as respected and beloved as they are.

Loses: The Kabuki Warriors

4 of 5
Monday Night RAW

On a night when little went wrong for WWE, the show's lone losers were marginal ones at worst.

Asuka and Kairi Sane spent the weeks ahead of Crown Jewel building momentum and rediscovering credibility with fans amid a renewed push.

While a win for home country hero Rhea Ripley was always expected, it would have been nice for The Kabuki Warriors to have been put in a position in which they did not have to lose as quickly and decisively as they did.

However, there is plenty that can be accomplished creatively that will allow for a quick rebound.

Still, a signature win or two that reminded the WWE Universe of who Asuka and Kairi Sane are as a championship-winning duo would have been nice before they ate a loss on a PLE stage.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins finally exorcised the demon who has haunted him for the better part of the last four years, defeating Cody Rhodes and doing so on his own.

There was no interference from Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed or Paul Heyman. Instead, Rollins utilized the Rolex watch gifted to him by Rhodes after he helped The American Nightmare defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

It was an appropriate finish for a story that centered on The Visionary's dismissal of Rhodes as QB1 and the exception he took to him throwing all of their hard work away to make that 'Mania moment happen, only to partner up with Reigns a few months later.

For Rollins, his victory at Crown Jewel was another accomplishment on a resume with plenty of them. It came after a superb match against an opponent with whom he has proven chemistry.

With a story to sink his teeth into, Rollins meshed the various threads throughout the contest and even sprinkled it into his gear, with the polka dots from the Hell in a Cell match and the blue from his WrestleMania 38 attire present in his latest outfit.

In a match that meant more to him than Rhodes, Rollins shined and delivered another outstanding performance that confirmed why he is considered one of the elite performers in the game today.
