Chris MuellerJun 21, 2025

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on June 21.

Wednesday special episode of Dynamite from Arena Mexico was a big success for the company, and it was looking to keep building momentum heading into All In next month.

Here's a look at what AEW advertised for this week's show:

—Toni Storm speaks
—Jon Moxley vs. AR Fox
—Swerve Strickland vs. Shane Taylor
—Queen Aminata, Thunder Rosa, Anna Jay and Tay Conti vs. Athena, Thekla, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford
—Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bandido and Daniel Garcia vs. FTR, Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita

Let's take a look at what happened on Saturday's episode of Collision.

Jon Moxley vs. AR Fox

1 of 8

Collision opened with Stokely Hathaway giving a very brief promo before Moxley made his way through the crowd so he could take on Fox.

Fox is a great talent who can have a good match with just about anyone, but this is one of the few times when it felt like Moxley was fighting well below his weight class. At no point did it feel like Fox had a chance to win.

Wheeler Yuta interfered by tripping Fox on the top turnbuckle, but Mox never needed any help. This bout was designed to make the champion look like a brutal and dominant competitor, and it worked for the most part.

Moxley hit a piledriver and several forearm strikes to the head before locking in a rear naked choke for the win. The AEW champion gave a promo directed at Adam Page to cap things off.

Result: Moxley defeated Fox

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—The Max live stream started very abruptly.
—The way Fox hit a double stomp on the apron was cool.
—Yuta has grown into his role so well. He's not just the guy who gets sacrificed anymore. He has genuine heat with the crowd.

Cole, Strong, Bandido and Garcia vs. Takeshita, Fletcher and FTR

2 of 8

A big eight-man tag match took place with Cole, Garcia, Bandido and Strong taking on Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, Takeshita and Fletcher.

Harwood started against Bandido in a fast-paced and hard-hitting exchange. Harwood hit several stiff chops, but it wasn't enough to slow down the ROH champion.

This had a few different rivalries rolled up into one match, so it felt like more than just a random assortment of opponents.

These are eight talented competitors and everyone pulled their weight, but Bandido definitely stood out on the babyface side for his high-flying offense.

This bout had several exciting sequences that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. In the end, it was a Shatter Machine from FTR to Strong that sealed the win. When the heels continued to attack, The Outrunners made the save.

Result: FTR, Takeshita and Fletcher won

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

—Takeshita's entrance song is underrated.
—Strong and Takeshita would have a tremendous singles match.
—The way FTR slammed Bandido on the announce table was nuts.

Swerve Strickland vs. Shane Taylor

3 of 8

The third match of the night was a singles bout between Strickland and Taylor. Prince Nana was in Swerve's corner while Taylor had his entire stable with him.

The first minute was a series of counters that ended with Taylor being sent out of the ring.

Taylor used his power advantage to unload on Strickland with strikes, but the former AEW world champion managed to neutralize his size several times.

Taylor put up a good fight, but Swerve hit his finisher to get the pin and the win. This was an entertaining bout even if the outcome was predictable.

Result: Strickland defeated Taylor

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—STP should have a much bigger presence on AEW TV.
—Apparently, The Infantry and Nana were betting on this match.
—Few people are as vocal during matches as Taylor. His trash talk is so audible for some reason.

Willow Nightingale, Hologram and Mark Briscoe vs. MxM Collection and Taya Valkyrie

4 of 8

Toni Storm gave a great profanity-filled promo about her upcoming match against Mercedes Moné before the next match took place with Willow, Mark Briscoe and Hologram taking on Mason Madden, Mansoor and Taya Valkyrie in a mixed six-person tag bout.

Nightingale and Valkyrie started the match for their teams, but they didn't stay in too long before tagging out to Hologram and Madden.

The heel team had control through the break until Briscoe got the hot tag and went on a rampage, but Johnny TV's interference slowed down his momentum.

Valkyrie gave us some intergender action when she hit Hologram with a hurricanrana, and Willow did the same with a spear to Mansoor.

This was a fun sprint that ended with The Conglomeration picking up the win.

Result: Nightingale, Hologram and Briscoe defeated MxM and Valkyrie

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—The pop for Willow was awesome.
—The announcers said Hologram was officially part of The Conglomeration, which a lot of people probably forgot was still a thing in AEW.
—Madden needs to do more to play up his size and strength. He looks like a monster but doesn't act like one.

Some Random Stuff

5 of 8

Don Callis gave a promo introducing Kazuchika Okada as an official member of The Don Callis Family. Briscoe came out and brought Kota Ibushi with him to show that Omega still has friends. A fight broke out that ended with Ibushi and Okada trading shots.

We returned from a commercial break to see The Workhorsemen brawling with Big Bill and Bryan Keith. This was not a match that was set for tonight. This was just a random fight.

The Patriarchy came out and said this was supposed to be their airtime for an announcement. Christian said he and Nick Wayne would be going after the tag titles.

We also got a backstage segment with Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn talking about how Bowens needs to keep winning to climb the ladder in AEW.

The Gates of Agony vs. Jet Speed

6 of 8

Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona took on Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight in a tag match with Ricochet sitting on commentary.

Knight and Speedball are both talented performers, but Liona and Kaun were simpley too powerful for them during the early portion of the match.

Ricochet looked both impressed and intimidated as The Gates of Agony inflicted a lot of damage to the high-flyers. We returned from a break to see Knight hit a flying clothesline before making a hot tag to Bailey.

Even though it lasted through the break, this wasn't a very long match because they needed to finish in time for the main event. They managed to pack a lot into the minutes they were given to make this enjoyable.

Bailey took out Liona at ringside so Knight was free to hit his finisher on Kaun to score the win for their team.

Result: Jet Speed defeated Gates of Agony

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

—The announcers kept asking Ricochet about the group he is trying to build, but he was coy about who he was scouting.
—Lions punching Speedball out of the air was a fun spot.

Rosa, Aminata, Jay and Melo vs. Ford, Bayne, Thekla and Athena

7 of 8

This week's main event was billed as an all-star eight-woman tag match. The newcomer Thekla teamed up with Athena, Bayne and Ford to take on TayJay, Aminata and Rosa.

Everyone started fighting as soon as the bell rang, and it came down to Aminata and Ford as the two left who officially started as the legal competitors.

Unfortunately, this match didn't feel like it had enough time to properly highlight all eight competitors. It got started too close to the end of the show, so they tried their best to pack as much into the time they had as possible.

If they had been given as much time as the eight-man tag match from earlier in the show, this would have been just as good. As it was, it felt a bit rushed.

Red Velvet ended up helping Athena get the win by sliding her title in for her to use as a weapon.

Result: B-

Grade: Athena, Thekla, Bayne and Ford won

Notable Moments and Observations

—AEW did a great job teasing Thekla's debut, but she has yet to feel like a fully developed character. She needs a proper first rival.
—Rosa's face paint and gear are always great. Same for Athena.
—It feels like AEW wants Aminata to have the appearance of a big star without putting in the work to give her an extended push. She needs to rack up some wins.

The Final Word

8 of 8

Saturday's Collision didn't feature anything newsworthy in terms of the matches that took place, but there were moments that definitely stood out on this show.

Storm's promo was another all-timer that helped keep her feud with Mone going while The CEO celebrates winning the CMLL women's title.

The return of Ibushi was unexpected and random in the best way, and the fight between The Workhorsemen and the duo of Big Bill and Keith added some spontaneity to the show.

The eight-man tag match and Swerve vs. Taylor were the two biggest highlights in the ring, but Storm's promo was probably the best thing on the whole show.

Grade: B
