J.J. Spaun Wins 2025 US Open at Oakmont Despite Rain, Wows Golf Fans With Clutch Putt
The poor weather conditions at Oakmont Country Club got the better of most of the competitors at the 2025 U.S. Open during Sunday's final round, but J.J. Spaun overcame the challenge with a late surge to win his first career major.
Spaun birdied the final two holes to finish the day at two-over 72 and win the tournament with an overall score of -1. It's just his second career PGA Tour victory.

Phil to miss another major due to 'personal health matter with his family'
Fans on social media were blown away by Spaun's victory in the tough weather conditions:
Like most golfers enduring the wind and rain on Sunday, Spaun opened the final round in horrific fashion. He had five bogeys in his first six holes to put himself in an early deficit. Luckily, he managed four birdies on the back nine to climb back up the leaderboard. His epic drive on the 17th hole and walk-off birdie putt on the 18th hole will be remembered as one of the best shots of the year.
Spaun's last PGA Tour win came at the 2022 Valero Texas Open. He came close to a victory when he fell to Rory McIlroy in a three-hole playoff at the 2025 Players Championship.
This time, Spaun broke through to earn a hard-fought victory. He will certainly earn a bump from No. 25 in the World Golf Rankings.
Next up on the PGA Tour schedule is the Travelers Championship, which begins this Thursday.
