WWE NXT Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights After Worlds Collide
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on June 10.
Last week's show was very eventful. We got the debut of Mariah May, Trick Williams retaining the TNA title in controversial fashion, Jacy Jayne's celebration for winning the NXT women's title, and Myles Borne earning the right to leave NQCC on his own terms.
At Worlds Collide on Saturday, Ethan Page retained the North American Championship in a Fatal 4-Way, and Lola Vice won a tag match alongside Stephanie Vaquer against Chik Tormenta and Dalys from AAA.
Tuesday's show dealt with the fallout from all of this while continuing the buildup for The Great American Bash on July 12.
Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of NXT.
Ethan Page vs. Sean Legacy
1 of 7
NXT opened with a quick video package before we saw Jasper Troy attack Oba Femi in the parking lot to soften him up before their title bout.
When we went back to the arena, Ethan Page was out to defend his North American title for the second time in four days.
His challenger for Tuesday night was Sean Legacy. All Ego quickly grounded him in a headlock to take control, but the challenger didn't stay down for long.
They spent the first few minutes trading holds and takedowns before Legacy began to unload with strikes to the champion. We returned from a break to hear the crowd chanting as the 29-year-old nailed a springboard dropkick.
The challenger began to build a lot of momentum but missed a 450 splash and ended up getting hit with Page's finisher. All Ego retained in an energetic and solid opening bout.
Ricky Saints rushed the ring and went after Page. They fought to the back before the show cut to NXT general manager Ava's office.
Result: Page defeated Legacy
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—Legacy has been getting a lot of positive attention lately.
—A textbook dropkick is an underrated move. Legacy and Page both have great dropkicks.
—Page's backbreaker on the top turnbuckle looked great.
Niko Vance and Shawn Spears vs. Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura
2 of 7
After Izzy Dame explained why she attacked Brooks Jensen, The Culling made its way to the ring so Niko Vance and Shawn Spears could take on Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura.
Spears unloaded on Inamura with chops and made his chest red, but all it did was fire up the Japanese competitor to respond in kind.
Once it was Vance and Briggs in the ring, the former began to take control and took the latter apart with a variety of offensive maneuvers.
The babyfaces eventually regained control, but Vance was able to hit his finisher on Briggs to score a relatively quick win.
This match was shorter than expected, but it had some fun moments and made all four guys look good.
Result: The Culling defeated Briggs and Inamura
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
—Jacy Jayne ended up agreeing to defend her title against Lainey Reid in a backstage segment.
—Briggs had a moment with Dame at ringside that seemed to indicate he was upset at how Jensen was treated by the group.
—The way Spears sold a straight right hand from Briggs was hilarious.
Lash Legend vs. Wren Sinclair
3 of 7
Lash Legend got into an argument with Wren Sinclair backstage, so they ended up meeting for a match with Kelani Jordan on commentary.
Sinclair got her opponent to the mat and put her in a rotating cattle mutilation submission, but Legend powered out of it to her feet and hit a big boot.
Legend had a significant power advantage, but Sinclair used her speed and wrestling ability to even the playing field.
Lash was able to score the win, but the way she hit her finisher didn't look great. She almost dropped Sinclair, and it ended up making the ending fall flat.
Result: Legend defeated Sinclair
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
—Mariah May's new name was revealed to be Blake Monroe during a video package. She has already changed her name on Twitter/X too.
—The way Sinclair rotated during the cattle mutilation was impressive.
—Both women made the headscissor takedown look good. Legend doing a full flip before landing was cool.
Jacy Jayne vs. Lainey Reid (NXT Women's Title)
4 of 7
Lainey Reid got a huge opportunity this week when she challenged Jacy Jayne for the NXT women's title. As usual, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx were with the champion for support.
Reid took control early and took Jayne from corner to corner before hitting a crossbody from the middle rope for a quick two-count.
A superkick from Jayne put her in the driver's seat as the show went to a break. We returned to see the champion still controlling the pace against the relative newcomer to NXT.
This was a solid back-and-forth encounter that immediately put Reid on the map. They made this feel physical and competitive, but you could still see a lack of chemistry in some places. Jayne retained her title with a discus clothesline.
During the post-match celebration, Ava appeared and told Jayne she would have to face the winner of a Fatal 4-Way on June 24. Whoever wins gets a title shot at Evolution on July 13.
Result: Jayne defeated Reid
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
—Reid's entrance music was pretty generic, even for NXT entrance music.
—The video package introducing Reid was good. It gave fans a quick primer on who she is.
—The way Jayne used the bottom rope to hit Reid in the neck was unique.
Tony D'Angelo and Luca Crusifino vs. The High Ryze
5 of 7
The Family was in action this week when Tony D'Angelo and Luca Crusifino were in action against Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe.
Tony D made Luca start for their team, but he was quickly thrown across the ring by Igwe. Crusifino tried a tag, but The Don told him to keep fighting.
Once D'Angelo did tag in, he had trouble getting in any offense, so he tagged back out. Crusifino cleaned house and then tagged Tony D for a quick double-team, which looked like it annoyed The Don more than anything else.
We returned from a break to see Dupont and Igwe back in control. Stacks showed up and tried to interfere, but Tony D sent him out of the ring. It looked for a moment like Luca was going to attack The Don, but he said it was a misunderstanding.
High Ryze took advantage of the situation and took out Tony D to get the win.
This match had a couple of good spots, but it had just as many moments that should have been better.
Result: High Ryze defeated The Family
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
—There was a nice segment backstage with Myles Borne and NQCC that turned into Tavion Heights asking to have his own shot against Charlie Dempsey.
—They did a good job showing how Tony D still doesn't trust Crusifino.
Oba Femi vs. Jasper Troy (NXT Championship)
6 of 7
This week's main event saw Troy challenge Femi for the NXT title.
The champ came into this bout a little worse for wear after Troy attacked him in the parking lot before the show, so the winner of LFG was able to take control right away.
Femi rarely finds himself being the smaller man in the ring, but he still managed to make a quick comeback and unleash some strikes on his opponent.
Troy ended up whipping Femi into the corner so hard that the middle rope broke off the ring post.
The challenger continued to focus on the injured midsection of the champion throughout the break and into the final segment of the show.
For someone so new, Troy made a great impression in this match. He looked as dominant and powerful as WWE wanted him to, but Femi looked just as good as an injured champion fighting for his pride and his title.
It took two Fall From Grace spinebusters from Femi to finally get the pin and the win.
Result: Femi defeated Troy
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
—Troy's music wasn't as bad as some of the other newer WWE theme songs.
—The spot with the middle rope was cool. It made Troy look like a monster.
—Femi throwing Troy through the barricade was a cool spot.
—The ref claimed Troy kicked out of Femi's first finisher when he clearly didn't.
The Final Word
7 of 7
On paper, this week's NXT looked like a great show. We got three title matches and a few bouts booked for future shows along the way. In reality, though, this felt like a weaker episode than what we usually get.
A couple of the matches felt rushed and predictable, and even though interference in WWE is commonplace, it was done too many times on Tuesday.
Page and Legacy had a solid encounter for the North American Championship. All Ego has been one of the workhorses of NXT lately, and this match was another example of why he has been positioned as a top star on the brand.
Mariah May's name change to Blake Monroe will take some getting used to, but it's not as bad as some of the other name changes WWE has done in recent years.
The main event had some weak points but still delivered some entertaining action from two massive human beings like Femi and Troy.
This wasn't the best episode of NXT, but it still had some matches worth checking out.
Grade: C+
