The Opening 2015 Results: MVP Winner and Finalists Performances
Timing is everything. After having dropped all of its pool-play games and entering the losers bracket in the 7-on-7 double-elimination tournament, Team Lunarbeast got hot at the right time en route to a 26-14 championship win over Team Mach Speed at The Opening 2015.
Traveon Beck, a defensive back for Lunarbeast, proved to be a modern-day Joe Namath:

Shea Patterson, the No. 2 pro-style quarterback on 247Sports' composite rankings, earned Elite 11 MVP for his performance over the entire event and for his role in Team Lunarbeast's victory Friday. Scout.com's Greg Biggins offered his seal of approval for Patterson's effort over the past few days:
The promising signal-caller put his talents on full display in the title game. He showed great mechanics and poise in the pocket. His accuracy on deeper throws was also equaled by the quickness with which he could fit a pass into the tiniest of windows on shorter throws.
MVP for the 7-on-7 tournament itself went to Kyle Davis, who's the No. 5 wideout in the country on 247Sports. Davis was gracious on Twitter after taking home the award:
"extremely blessed. s/o to @TheOpening for giving me the opportunity! pic.twitter.com/acQUMlYosf

If you're wondering what he did to earn MVP, catches like this certainly helped, courtesy of The Opening:
Davis might have won top honors for the tournament as a whole, but Tyrie Cleveland's effort in the title game was a big reason for Team Lunarbeast's triumph. Sanjay Kirpalani of Bleacher Report captured a video of Cleveland going full extension to haul in a beautiful pass over the top from Patterson:
Cleveland scored shortly thereafter to give Team Lunarbeast an early 12-7 lead.
Late in the game, another touchdown reception from Cleveland helped seal the deal. B/R's Tyler Donohue posted a replay of the catch:
Patterson is committed to the Ole Miss Rebels, so head coach Hugh Freeze may want to make a late push for Cleveland, who remains without a commitment. He and Patterson had a strong rapport throughout The Opening, which caught the eye of B/R's Damon Sayles:
The Ohio State-bound duo of Austin Mack and Jake Hausmann were also instrumental to Team Lunarbeast's success. Buckeyes fans had to enjoy watching them shine Friday. They'll bring two talented aerial targets to an already-loaded OSU passing attack.
The Opening has proven a great springboard for a number of marquee college football stars in past seasons, and this year will likely be no different in that regard.
It will be another few years before many of The Opening's 2015 class break through at the next level, but you'll definitely want to keep track of the standout performers from the past week to follow their progression.
