Charles Woodson Jr., Son of Heisman Trophy Winner, Lands Michigan CFB Offer
Charles Woodson Jr. has the opportunity to follow in his famous father's footsteps.
The defensive back prospect revealed Wednesday he received a scholarship offer from Michigan, his father's alma mater:
According to 247Sports' composite rankings, the younger Woodson is a 3-star prospect and the No. 363 overall player and No. 35 safety in the 2027 recruiting class. In addition to Michigan, he has received offers from a number of schools, including Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Kentucky.
None of those schools can tout the connection the Wolverines do.
The elder Woodson won the Heisman Trophy and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year during his time at Michigan. He also took home the Bronko Nagurski Award, Chuck Bednarik Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award as an All-American and collegiate legend.
But his accolades don't stop with Michigan.
Woodson was the No. 4 overall pick of the 1998 NFL draft and amassed a resume that included a Super Bowl title, Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year and nine Pro Bowl selections while playing for the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers.
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2021.
That is a lot for his son to live up to, but the journey to football immortality largely started with Woodson's decision to attend Michigan.
The Big Ten program is surely hoping the younger defensive back makes the same decision and helps anchor its 2027 class.
