More details have emerged since R-Truth and Carlito separately announced this week that their WWE contracts will not be renewed.
Truth shocked the wrestling world Sunday when he announced his WWE departure on X, and Carlito followed it up with an announcement of his own later in the day:
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), WWE head of creative Triple H made the decision to move on from Truth and Carlito after being informed of how much money the company wanted to cut.
Meltzer (h/t Carrier) added that WWE targeted older talent that is not heavily utilized when deciding who to cut.
WWE has had a recent influx of talent with Penta, Rey Fenix, Aleister Black, Rusev and JC Mateo being signed to the main roster in the men's division since the start of the year.
Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer were all recently called up from NXT in the women's division as well, and there could be more call-ups on the horizon.
While cycling talent in and out has always been part of WWE's business plan, parting ways with Truth is surprising nonetheless.
Truth had been with WWE since 2008, and he was beloved by fans due to his great comedic timing. He was also fresh off a huge match against WWE champion John Cena on Saturday Night's Main Event, so the timing was jarring.
With that said, Truth is 53 years old and wasn't featured regularly over the past year until his brief program with Cena.
Carlito's departure was a bit more expected. He was part of The Judgment Day and in a similar role as Truth, but he had only been back in WWE since 2023 after a previous run from 2004 to 2010.
Both Truth and Carlito have cultivated large fan bases over the years, though, so it isn't shocking that their departures haven't gone over well with the WWE Universe thus far.
Miz Reportedly Not on the Outs at WWE Despite Speculation
The Miz reportedly isn't on his way out of WWE despite speculation to the contrary this week.
Amid the departures of veteran talent in R-Truth and Carlito, The Miz became the subject of speculation as well due to claims that he removed references to WWE and unfollowed WWE on X.
However, Fightful Select (h/t Carrier) reported that it has "not been told whatsoever that [The Miz has] been informed of his contract not being renewed."
The Miz has been with WWE for over two decades, competing on the fourth season of Tough Enough in 2004 before signing a developmental contract in 2005 and getting called up to the main roster in 2006.
Few expected Miz to succeed, but he proved his doubters wrong, becoming one of the most decorated Superstars in WWE history.
Miz is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer by virtue of being a two-time WWE champion, eight-time intercontinental champion, two-time United States champion, nine-time tag team champion and two-time Mr. Money in the Bank.
The Miz has also long been recognized as one of the best promo guys in the wrestling business, and he has added value to WWE by always being willing to partake in press tours and act as an ambassador for the company.
Because of that, it has long been assumed that The Miz is a WWE lifer who will have a job with the company for as long as he wants it.
However, the same was assumed when it came to R-Truth, which is why his departure came as such a shock.
At 44 years of age, The Miz is one of the older stars on the WWE main roster, and while he still wrestles fairly regularly, he has been utilized more heavily in a mentorship role alongside Carmelo Hayes lately.
The Miz continues to show that he can continue to contribute in myriad ways, and if WWE does retain him moving forward, his versatility will be a big reason why.
Morgan Discusses Head Injury Suffered on Raw
Liv Morgan provided a positive update on a head injury she suffered during Monday night's episode of Raw.
After losing her Money in the Bank qualifying match against Stephanie Vaquer and Ivy Nile earlier in the night, Morgan accompanied her tag team partner, Raquel Rodriguez, to the ring for a singles match against Kairi Sane.
While attempting to interfere on Raquel's behalf, Liv took a shot to the head and suffered a cut.
Appearing afterward on Raw Recap, Morgan said she was "probably concussed," but followed that up by saying she "already got checked out" by doctors and was "good to go."
Morgan receiving a clean bill of health is great news from WWE's perspective since she has been one of the main players in the Raw women's division for well over a year.
While Morgan dropped the Women's World Championship to Rhea Ripley earlier this year and failed to qualify for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match, she is still one half of the reigning WWE women's tag team champions with Rodriguez.
Morgan is also in the midst of a major storyline with The Judgment Day, as there appears to be tension due to the recent actions of Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.
With Morgan apparently cleared from any major injuries, she figures to be featured heavily on Raw in the coming weeks.
