Buy or Sell WWE Draft 2025 Rumors, Cody Rhodes Plans, Evolution PLE Headliner, More
Fresh off WrestleMania and Backlash PLEs, WWE is up again with Saturday Night's Main Event on the way and plenty after that, too.
That amps up a pro wrestling rumor landscape that, frankly, never takes much of a break as it is.
Even without the chaos surrounding SNME, the mill offers up lots of heavyweight items like the drama surrounding John Cena’s heel turn, possible legend returns, main event plans and even a potential major heel turn for another huge name. Oh, there’s also mention of a WWE draft, too.
Got all that? Here’s a look at the most noteworthy buzz and whether fans should buy or sell on each.
WWE draft plans?
1 of 5
The Rumor
Speculation about the WWE draft continues to soar. According to Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the draft could happen over Memorial Day weekend.
Reaction
The possible timing of a WWE draft has been all over the place—and it’s not hard to see why, given the company’s wild list of PLEs and events as a whole. Picking a spot that actually makes sense while roster shuffling won’t ruin ongoing stories isn’t simple, especially this year.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. Memorial Day feels like the sweet spot where the pro wrestling calendar cools off just enough to mix up the rosters. They need to refresh things in interesting ways (and actually stick to brand split rules, if any), so it’s a good time before the summer.
Goldberg-Gunther plans?
2 of 5
The Rumor
Goldberg’s big return and goodbye keeps coming up in buzz. The latest, according to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), is that Gunther will get off the Money in the Bank Card to set up other things. All signs, then, point to Goldberg at Night of Champions on June 28.
Reaction
It would be a little weird to see Goldberg’s final match take place in Saudi Arabia. But like the draft, WWE needs to find the sweet spot to fit it into the schedule during a Triple H era with a focus on long-form stories that doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room for one-offs like this.
Buy or Sell?
Easy buy. Gunther has long seemingly been the fan pick for Goldberg’s goodbye match, both in terms of what fans want and what WWE has hinted. Like the draft, nailing it down over a quiet part of the summer before the SummerSlam build really starts makes sense.
All things John Cena
3 of 5
The Rumor
The Cena buzz is in overdrive. Jonathan Coachman recently said that he’s heard Cena will cross paths with The Rock over the summer. Meanwhile, PW Insider Elite (h/t Ortman) reported that Cena-CM Punk won’t happen at Money in the Bank, with some within WWE pitching that Cena works in a tag team with musician Travis Scott at that PLE.
Reaction
Got all that? It’s pretty clear that plans are fluid for the summer. Some of the chaos is simply a result of outsiders being unable to predict what WWE actually does with Cena. Does he drop the belt at SummerSlam? When does the transition back to a good guy start? Is he really done late in 2025? And when will Rock actually be available, if ever?
Buy or Sell?
Though disappointing, buy on Cena-Punk not happening at MITB. That feels like a SummerSlam match. We can also buy on Cena brushing up with Rock, even if it’s a backstage segment/promo. The sell is the idea of his teaming up with Travis Scott—surely WWE wouldn’t be foolish enough to double-down on the chaos that spoiled the main event of WrestleMania for many fans…right?
Evolution PLE plans?
4 of 5
The Rumor
The speculated all-women’s Evolution PLE keeps making waves. According to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), WWE has eyes on Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill as the main event.
Reaction
WWE has certainly been leaning this way for a feud and it makes a lot of sense as Flair continues to gain momentum after the Tiffany Stratton feud at ‘Mania. This is one of those matchups worthy of headlining a PLE, especially if it can perhaps serve as a passing-of-the-torch sort of moment.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. Fans will understandably raise up other deserving matches that could headline such a PLE. But just having said PLE back will be a boon and if the main event gets used for meaningful storytelling and character progression, it will be hard to complain about the end result.
Cody Rhodes heel turn?
5 of 5
The Rumor
Recent buzz has suggested that The Rock is one of the folks spitballing a Cody Rhodes heel turn, but according to Fightful Select (h/t Ortman), a big number of people within WWE are fully against it.
Reaction
There’s an interesting conversation to be had here. Rhodes is doing major numbers as a babyface, but WWE comfortably has Jey Uso in that spot too. It feels like there’s wiggle room for a Rhodes heel turn, provided it doesn’t overlap too much with Cena’s current heel turn.
Buy or Sell?
Buy all the shares that there is major pushback to this idea within WWE. Maybe the temperature changes on that in the future—and it probably should, because a heel turn would keep things fresh over the years. But with Cena at the top right now, it does feel a little unnecessary.
