Miami LB Adarius Hayes Released from Hospital After Car Crash That Killed 3 People
The University of Miami issued a statement Monday revealing linebacker Adarius Hayes was released from the hospital after a two-vehicle car crash that killed three people Saturday, per ESPN.
ESPN cited police in Largo, Florida, who said Hayes was driving a Dodge Durango that collided with a Kia Soul on Saturday afternoon. The 78-year-old woman driving the Kia, as well as 10-year-old and four-year-old passengers, died in the crash.
Another passenger in the Kia suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.
While no criminal charges or tickets have been filed, the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
"There were no signs of impairment with either driver of the vehicles," Largo Police public information officer Megan Santo said in a statement.
Miami also released a statement that said, "We are deeply saddened to learn the crash resulted in three fatalities, as confirmed by Largo Police, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost."
Hayes arrived at Miami as a 4-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
He played 11 games during his freshman season and finished with four tackles and one interception. Hayes was primarily a special teams contributor in his first season with the ACC program.
