Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Every time John Cena appears on WWE programming, fans are all too well aware he gets one step closer to retirement.
The world champion has even taken it upon himself at times to list off how many dates he has left on his contract.
Eventually, the John Cena Farewell Tour will come to a conclusion.
Back in April, Shayna Seymour of WCVB reported WWE intends to stage Cena's last match at TD Garden in Boston in December. It will be a final homecoming for the West Newbury, Massachusetts, native.
That aligns with a report about a potential Boston-based premium live event at the end of the year, which would serve as Cena's full send-off.
It's anybody's guess how Cena's narrative arc may evolve between now and then. Maybe he will have been dethroned as the undisputed champ and become a good guy again, thus allowing him to walk out on a high. The 48-year-old could also hold onto the gold until December, with his loss helping to set the stage for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42.
Rest assured, you'll likely be able to relieve Cena's swan song long after it's over. WWE has reportedly followed the star closely for a future project, presumably a documentary in the vein of The Last Dance, which followed the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls.
WWE Worked to Keep Cobb Debut Hidden
To the surprise of no one, Jeff Cobb wasn't actually retired.
The former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star made his WWE debut Saturday night, attacking LA Knight and helping Jacob Fatu retain the United States Championship.
According to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, Cobb only arrived in St. Louis on Saturday morning, having traveled on between four and five flights from Japan. He and WWE also made sure to keep him hidden backstage so as not to ruin any surprise.
Cobb contributed to the misdirection, giving the impression Saturday afternoon he was in Los Angeles:
A lot of fans expected the 42-year-old to show up in WWE once his NJPW officially ended in April. Still, the exact moment he would appear was a closely guarded secret known only to a few.
McIntyre 'Totally Fine' after Backlash
The U.S. title match also saw Drew McIntyre take a scary bump when he took South of Heaven from Damian Priest onto a table outside of the ring. McIntyre immediately held the back of his head, and he was evaluated by WWE's medical team.
Triple H provided an encouraging update after Backlash, saying in the post-show press conference that McIntyre was a "little banged up" but otherwise "totally fine."
The spot was likely intended to write both McIntyre and Priest out of the match, at least long enough to allow for the spotlight to shine on Knight and Fatu. That ensured everyone was watching the ring to give Cobb's debut the treatment it deserved.
Still, McIntyre's fall looked like it hurt. The genuine concern he garnered from fans is a sign of how well he sold the devastating move.
