No. 1: Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns, PF, Kentucky
The Minnesota Timberwolves brought back Kevin Garnett in the middle of last season, more to pay tribute to his legendary career than anything else. But by the time he retires as a T-Wolf, his successor could be in tow.
Karl-Anthony Towns may not be a carbon copy of Garnett, but he possesses many similar traits that make him a tantalizing prospect. His athleticism, shooting stroke and defensive ability all outweigh fellow No. 1 pick prospect Jahlil Okafor, and while not as safe of a pick, he has a higher ceiling.
He's been wowing everyone throughout his predraft workouts, as Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com told Bleacher Report SXM:
Minnesota will have its pick between Okafor and Towns, but it would be foolish to pass up on the potential of the former Kentucky power forward.
No. 3: Philadelphia 76ers: Kristaps Porzingis, PF, Latvia
If there's a rare gem in the draft that teams are trying to convince themselves to take earlier than expected, consider the 76ers interested. General manager Sam Hinkie always looks for the less conventional road, and he'll do so again with Kristaps Porzingis.
The Latvian power forward has dazzled those in the United States as he showcases his game in some of his first true exposure. His silky-smooth game includes a deadly mid-range jumper and swift post moves that will keep less mobile big men on roller skates.
The logjam in the frontcourt could force Philadelphia's hand at picking a guard, but Porzingis could offer a much different skill set than that of Joel Embiid or Nerlens Noel. His ability to stretch the floor and space the offense could be a game-changer, especially if his talent is as advertised.
No. 7: Denver Nuggets: Willie Cauley-Stein, C, Kentucky

Kentucky big men are the talk of the draft, and although the Denver Nuggets are slotted for the second one off the board, they won't be at a shortage of talent with Willie Cauley-Stein.
The Nuggets have desperately needed a rim protector ever since Timofey Mozgov's departure and really before that if you consider the franchise's recent direction. Especially on defense, Denver has proved hapless in the post in a Western Conference that is flush with star big men.
Of course, Denver could see Cauley-Stein fall off the board before the seventh pick, per ESPN.com's Ian Begley:
If the Nuggets can find a way to get Cauley-Stein in the fold at No. 7 overall, he could turn into a massive building block to put more pieces around.
