John Moffitt to Eagles: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
After leaving the NFL in 2013, John Moffitt announced he would be returning to the league after a two-year retirement and was promptly released by the Denver Broncos. The guard found a new home, however, as the Philadelphia Eagles announced he signed a one-year contract with the organization on Monday.
Moffitt, 28, spent three years in the NFL, playing in 17 games for the Seattle between the 2011-12 seasons and in two games for Denver in the 2013 season.
But he walked away during the 2013 season, telling the Associated Press at the time (via ESPN.com), "I just really thought about it and decided I'm not happy. I'm not happy at all. And I think it's really madness to risk your body, risk your well-being and risk your happiness for money."

Moffitt ran into problems off the field, though, and was arrested last year on "battery and drug possession charges at a Chicago nightclub, where he was found with cocaine, ecstasy pills and marijuana," per ESPN.com.
After going to rehab, Moffitt decided to return to the NFL.
It will be fascinating to see if the guard can carve out a starting spot for himself after two years away from the game, especially considering he was never a star during his time in the league. The Eagles clearly believe he brings a lot to the table, however, and they'll give him a chance to prove he still belongs.
The Eagles also will have a spot at guard up for competition after cutting veteran Evan Mathis this offseason. So Moffitt may be more than simply a depth addition for Philly.
No matter what happens, Moffitt has certainly come a long way to even get to this point, and a lot of folks will be rooting for him as he attempts to rejuvenate his career.
