Stock Up, Stock Down for Mets' Top 10 Prospects for Week 8
The Mets right now are 27-21. They struggled last weekend against the Pirates but played much better afterward at home against the Phillies. Their next opponent will be the Marlins at home.
Down on the farm, some of the Mets' top prospects are now on the major league roster, including Kevin Plawecki, Dilson Herrera and Noah Syndergaard. The rest of the Mets' top prospects, though, are still playing in the minor leagues and hoping to become a part of the major league roster one day themselves.
Here are stock updates for the Mets' top 10 prospects.
10. Gabriel Ynoa, RHP, Binghamton Mets (Double-A)
1 of 102015 Statistics
8 GS, 2-3, 4.72 ERA, 17 BB, 26 K, 47.2 IP
Last Week's Statistics
1 GS, 0-1, 5 ER, 5 H, 6.1 IP
Overview
One of the many great young arms in the Mets' organization is Gabriel Ynoa, who is on the Double-A Binghamton squad.
In his last start, Ynoa took the loss by allowing five earned runs and five hits in 6.1 innings pitched. He did not walk any batters, though, which is a good sign when considering his 17 walks in 47.2 innings pitched. Ynoa will look to bounce back in his next start and continue his development.

9. Matt Reynolds, SS, Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A)
2 of 102015 Statistics
45 G, .283/.347/.417, 2 HR, 27 RBI, 33 R, 7 SB
Last Week's Statistics
5 G, 5/21, 1 RBI, 3 R
Overview
With shortstop still a weakness for the Mets at the major league level, Matt Reynolds could be another option to turn to later in the season. Reynolds has had a solid season thus far with a .283 average and 27 RBI in 45 games.
This past week, Reynolds had just five hits in 21 at-bats but had an RBI and scored three runs as well.
Should any serious injuries occur to either Wilmer Flores or Ruben Tejada, Reynolds would then be the most likely player the Mets would call up. But if everyone stays healthy, Reynolds will probably remain in Triple-A for most of the season.

8. Jhoan Urena, 3B, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)

Overview
Jhoan Urena has not had an at-bat since May 20. Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reported that Urena exited midway through the St. Lucie Mets' game on May 22, but according to the box score that night, Urena actually left after the first inning. No particular injury has been reported thus far, but hopefully Urena will be OK.

7. Gavin Cecchini, SS, Binghamton Mets (Double-A)
4 of 10
2015 Season Statistics
38 G, .298/.355/.468, 4 HR, 20 RBI, 20 R
Last Week's Statistics
7 G, 9/28, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 R
Overview
Gavin Cecchini has continued to hit and had nine hits in 28 at-bats this past week, with a home run and three RBI. With four home runs already, Cecchini is on pace to set a career high in his brief minor league career. If he keeps hitting like this, he'll have his best offensive season by far.
Look for Cecchini, the Mets' first-round pick in 2012, to develop more as a hitter and try to make his mark as the Mets' potential shortstop of the future.

6. Dominic Smith, 1B, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
5 of 102015 Statistics
34 G, .244/.294/.331, 0 HR, 19 RBI, 16 R
Last Week's Statistics
5 G, 8/19, 5 RBI, 4 R
Overview
Despite still not showing any power this season, Dominic Smith's bat has improved lately. He raised his average up to .244. His OBP and slugging percentage also went up quite a bit to .294 and .331, respectively.
Hopefully, the 2013 first-round pick will find his power stroke again and put together a better season this year.

Marcos Molina has not made a start since May 13 and was placed on the disabled list on May 14 with a strained right elbow. Hopefully, this is not too serious of an injury and Molina gets better soon.

4. Amed Rosario, SS, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
7 of 102015 Statistics
45 G, .272/.315/.370, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 21 R, 4 SB
Last Week's Statistics
5 G, 7/19, 2 RBI, 4 R
Overview
Amed Rosario has continued to hit better and has his average up to .272 near the end of May. He also has seven hits, two RBI and four runs scored this past week.
Rosario is just 19 years old, so he's still a long way from the major leagues, but if he has a big season this year, it would certainly help him move up the system that much quicker.

3. Michael Conforto, LF, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
8 of 102015 Statistics
45 G, .291/.358/.475, 7 HR, 28 RBI, 25 R
Last Week's Statistics
5 G, 6/19, 4 RBI, 3 R
Overview
Michael Conforto's season has gone very well so far, with seven home runs and 28 RBI already. He raised his average up to .291 this week and now has a solid .833 OPS.
In 163 at-bats last year at Single-A Brooklyn, Conforto was raking it in at the plate with a .331 average, three home runs and 19 RBI. The Mets' 2014 first-round pick should quickly turn into one of the Mets' most exciting offensive prospects. Look for him to continue to rise rapidly through the Mets' farm system.

2. Brandon Nimmo, CF, Binghamton Mets (Double-A)

2015 Statistics

Overview
Brandon Nimmo hasn't played since May 15 due to a sprained knee, as reported by Adam Rubin of ESPN.com. The team placed Nimmo on the disabled list on May 17. Hopefully he will continue to hit well when he gets healthy again.

1. Steven Matz, LHP, Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A)
10 of 10
2015 Statistics
9 GS, 6-2, 1.99 ERA, 21 BB, 68 K, 63.1 IP
Last Week's Statistics
2 GS, 2-0, 4 ER, 11 H, 2 BB, 14 K, 13.1 IP
Overview
Steven Matz has put together an awesome season so far for Triple-A Las Vegas, which features a very hitter-friendly atmosphere. This makes Matz's numbers that much more impressive.
Matz did well in both of his last two starts. In the first of those starts, he got the win and allowed four earned runs and eight hits in 6.1 innings pitched. He allowed one walk and had seven strikeouts. In his most recent start, Matz threw seven shutout innings and allowed three hits and one walk while striking out another seven.
Matz, at this point, looks more than ready to be a part of the Mets' major league pitching staff. It should be only a matter of time before it ends up happening, but the Mets already having a crowded rotation likely could affect the timing of Matz's eventual promotion as well.
