Kelly Comments on Bradford's Recovery
Tuesday, June 16
When asked if Bradford would be ready for 11-on-11 drills, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said, "God, we hope so," according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.
"If I'm not ready for 11 on 11 by training camp, then something has gone horribly wrong," Bradford said, via Dave Weinberg of the Press of Atlantic City when asked about being ready for those drills.
On June 2, Breer reported Bradford took his first seven-on-seven snaps and alternated with the first team with Mark Sanchez. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer noted Bradford only took five snaps during the drills. McLane reported Bradford did not participate in team drills.
Bradford hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2013, and while nothing is guaranteed in the aftermath of a knee injury, the 27-year-old signal-caller is seemingly moving in the right direction.
On May 28, Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com added, "Bradford says he understands concerns about his health." Shorr-Parks also noted Bradford believes "this rehab is going way better than his first time around."
Philadelphia has undergone a significant transformation this offseason, with longtime stars such as running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin going elsewhere. Running back DeMarco Murray is in the fold, which suggests the offense will be running-centric, but Kelly still needs strong play out of his quarterback after not getting that last season from Sanchez.
Bradford has the natural ability to be a star quarterback in the NFL, but it is impossible to tell if he is ready to take that step physically until he gets back on the field with regularity.
