This game is a meeting between two teams who each need a point to secure their sole remaining Premier League objective. A draw would ensure Arsenal finish in third position, as well as guaranteeing Sunderland survival in the relegation dogfight.

However, it's unlikely the two teams will play out a tepid affair. The Gunners will be highly motivated to return to form and finish their league campaign on a high ahead of the FA Cup final.

Sunderland are on a strong run of form, but they will need to produce one of their best performances of the season if they are to get anything at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have won seven and lost none of their last 10 Premier League matches against Sunderland. However, having lost just one of their last six games, Dick Advocaat's men will be determined to ensure they leave with the point they need to ensure their survival.

Team News

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck have still not returned from injury, so questions are justifiably being asked over whether they'll be fit in time for the FA Cup final. Another worry for the Gunners is Laurent Koscielny, who has been unwell and may be forced to sit out the Sunderland game. With Arsenal facing three games in seven days, Arsene Wenger may look to rotate his squad a little.

For Sunderland, defender Billy Jones has joined Wes Brown, Jordi Gomez, Ricky Alvarez and Jack Rodwell on the treatment table.

Predicted Arsenal XI: David Ospina; Hector Bellerin, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista, Kieran Gibbs; Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey; Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez; Olivier Giroud

Players to Watch

Arsenal: Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman has three goals in four Premier League games against Sunderland.

Although he is currently in the midst of a six-match barren spell, you would not bet against him getting back on the goal-trail against the Mackems.

Sunderland: Jermain Defoe

The former Tottenham man will be desperate to make an impact against the club he treated as a rival for so long.

With Defoe on the field, Arsenal will know they cannot afford any defensive lapses if they are to keep a clean sheet.
