Though Myers has returned to the lineup, his wrist injury woes are not completely behind him, as offseason surgery appears to be in his future.
"It's a high possibility, but not during the year," Myers said about surgery, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com."It's a simple fix, but I can't do it now because of the rehab during the season. I want to be out there."
Myers was still trying to settle into a role on defense at the time his injury initially occurred, and the 24-year-old is now back to add some pop to San Diego's lineup. Myers had been hitting .291 and had five home runs prior to the injury.
With the Padres sitting third in the NL West heading into Thursday's games, five wins behind the division-leading Dodgers, Myers' return couldn't be better timed.
