Fred Davis to Patriots: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Just days after his NFL reinstatement, tight end Fred Davis has found a new home, agreeing to a deal with the New England Patriots on Monday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the two sides had come to terms on a one-year contract. The Patriots made the signing official as well.
The longtime Washington Redskins tight end missed the entire 2014 season after the NFL suspended him for his second violation of the league's substance-abuse policy.

Now 29 years of age, Davis is facing an uphill battle in terms of earning significant playing time on a Pats roster that is already overflowing with tight ends.
As Mike Reiss of ESPN.com pointed out, New England has four capable tight ends in addition to the newly signed Davis:
While Rob Gronkowski is firmly entrenched as the starter, Davis will look to beat out the likes of Scott Chandler and Tim Wright for reps as the No. 2 pass-catcher at that position.
Davis had just seven catches for 70 yards in 10 games during the 2013 season, but in 2011, he went for a career-high 796 yards.
The Patriots love to use extra tight ends, and if Davis is able to make the roster, it may ultimately be the best possible landing spot for him.
There won't be much pressure on him since Gronk will shoulder the load, and if he contributes even slightly, then the signing will likely be heralded as a success.
