NFL Power Rankings: Where Does Every Team Stand After the 2015 NFL Draft?
The 2015 NFL draft is complete, and offseason workouts are beginning. As the season quickly approaches, which team is in the best position to succeed?
All the teams start the first week with the same record, but not every team adequately prepared itself to make a run for the Super Bowl.
Last year's big game featured the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, but did they perform well enough in free agency and the draft to repeat?
Lets take a look at the strength of each team heading into the summer months with these post-draft power rankings. Each team's record from the 2014 season played a role in the ordering, as did whether it improved or weakened its roster in the offseason.
32. Tennessee Titans
1 of 32
Last Year’s Record: 2-14
The Titans decided to keep their pick and chose Marcus Mariota with the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Tennessee also added a weapon to its offense with the addition of Dorial Green-Beckham.
The possibility of finding a new franchise quarterback will have fans excited. However, Mariota is not as pro-ready as Jameis Winston and is not a natural fit for Ken Whisenhunt's offense.
Expect the Titans to struggle next season as Mariota adjusts to the next level and Whisenhunt works to figure out how to put his new quarterback in the best position to succeed.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2 of 32
Last Year's Record: 2-14
It seemed like Jameis Winston joined the Buccaneers right after his last game with Florida State, as all signs pointed to Tampa Bay selecting who it hopes will be its new franchise quarterback.
The Buccaneers will be able to surround Winston with some weapons in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, but Winston still needs to learn how to be a leader on and off the field.
The Bucs finished with the worst record in the NFL last season, and now their season rests on the shoulders of a young quarterback.
30. Washington Redskins
3 of 32
Last Year's Record: 4-12
The Washington Redskins decided to pass on arguably the best player in this year's draft when they chose Brandon Scherff over Leonard Williams with the fifth overall pick.
Although fans may not appreciate Scherff, Robert Griffin III probably appreciates the increased protection. The Redskins also took a big hit to their pass rush with the loss of Brian Orakpo.
The Redskins will hope to limit the quarterback carousel this year by keeping Griffin healthy, but that is yet to be seen.
29. Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 32
Last Year's Record: 3-13
The Jaguars looked to surround Blake Bortles with more weapons with the additions of Julius Thomas and T.J. Yeldon. Most experts didn't expect Yeldon to be off the board in the second round, but he will be a welcome addition to the Jags backfield.
Jacksonville also continues to improve its defense by taking Dante Fowler Jr. early in the first round of the draft to help mold Gus Bradley's defense.
Look for Bortles to continue to improve this season as the wide receivers continue to develop and he now has a favorable tight end target.
28. Oakland Raiders
5 of 32
Last Year's Record: 3-13
The Raiders are likely satisfied with their choice to draft Derek Carr in last year's draft, and now they have added a weapon for their young quarterback with their first pick this year.
Amari Cooper is an NFL-ready wide receiver with deep-play ability. New head coach Jack Del Rio will hope his first-round selection helps the development of the his sophomore quarterback.
Increased offensive production may be enough to grab a few extra wins for the Raiders this season.
27. Cleveland Browns
6 of 32
Last Year's Record: 7-9
Cleveland fans most likely will not be as excited about the possibility of having Johnny Manziel under center this season compared to the post-draft hype last year.
The Browns will also be without talented wide receiver Josh Gordon following another suspension for substance abuse. Cleveland signed Dwayne Bowe to help the receiver core, but he is not an established No. 1 target. The Browns also had 12 picks in this year's draft to help replenish the ranks.
Cleveland will need the second-year quarterback to remain focused and prove that he deserves the nickname "Johnny Football." The Browns won seven games last year with Brian Hoyer as their Week 1 starter, so there might be some hope for this season.
26. Chicago Bears
7 of 32
Last Year's Record: 5-11
The Bears had one the league's worst defenses in 2014 but decided to address their offense with their first-round pick. Chicago drafted wide receiver Kevin White with the seventh overall pick to hopefully replace Brandon Marshall's production.
The pairing of Alshon Jeffery with White could provide one of the best wide receiver tandems for years to come. Overall, the Bears chose offensive players with three of their first four selection in the 2015 NFL draft.
In order to actually progress as a team, Chicago will need to sort out the defensive side of the ball. Bringing defensive coordinator Vic Fangio from San Francisco will help, but he does not have the pieces to truly improve the defense.
Expect opponents to put up massive point totals against the Bears, prompting Jay Cutler to make more questionable throws.
25. New York Giants
8 of 32
Last Year's Record: 6-10
The New York Giants quietly performed terribly in 2015, despite the rise of their new star, Odell Beckham Jr.
Their lack of success mainly boils down to their inability to run the ball with Rashad Jennings and Andrew Williams. Drafting an offensive lineman in the first round rarely gets fans excited, but it might be what New York needs.
The Giants also drafted top-rated safety Landon Collins in the second round to improve their secondary. New York could have used another weapon to partner with Beckham.
24. Minnesota Vikings
9 of 32
Last Year's Record: 7-9
Adrian Peterson is back from suspension, which means the Minnesota Vikings get the best running back in the NFL at their disposal.
Teams like the Dallas Cowboys seemingly never came in with a blockbuster deal, so it looks like Peterson will be able to take some of the pressure off Teddy Bridgewater this year.
The Vikings also left Chicago after replenishing their team with solid draft picks. Trae Waynes will be able to partner with Xavier Rhodes in creating a talented defensive secondary.
The Vikings also added deep threat Mike Wallace to complement Cordarrelle Patterson at wide receiver.
23. Atlanta Falcons
10 of 32
Last Year's Record: 6-10
The Falcons are not short of offensive options, but now they finally got the pass-rusher their defense desperately needed. Atlanta drafted Vic Beasley from Clemson in the first round.
The Falcons grabbed valuable cover corner Jalen Collins. With Dan Quinn's arrival came an obvious increased emphasis on the defensive side of the ball.
With an improved defense, the Atlanta Falcons hopefully will not have to win every game in a shootout. This could take pressure off Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and company.
22. New York Jets
11 of 32
Last Year's Record 4-12
Last year resulted in a losing season for the Jets, prompting an active offseason in New York. Todd Bowles now joins the team after serving as defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals.
They improved their secondary in free agency signing Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Meanwhile, the Jets got the steal of the draft in Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick.
The Jets also brought in playmaker Brandon Marshall to partner with Eric Decker. The Jets operated the offseason well, but everything still comes down to the development of Geno Smith.
21. San Francisco 49ers
12 of 32
Last Year's Record: 8-8
The 49ers will look different next season without strong-jawed head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive stalwart Patrick Willis. San Francisco also lost the ageless Frank Gore in free agency to the Indianapolis Colts.
San Francisco filled some needs in the draft without selecting any big-name players. However, the most important acquisition the 49ers made was the signing of veteran wide receiver Torrey Smith.
Torrey Smith rejoins his old teammate Anquan Boldin, providing the team with a much-needed deep threat.
20. New Orleans Saints
13 of 32
Last Year's Record: 7-9
To whom will Drew Brees throw without Jimmy Graham? The New Orleans Saints traded away their best offensive weapon to the Seattle Seahawks.
New Orleans also sent speedy wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Miami Dolphins. However, the Saints brought in veteran talent with Max Unger, C.J. Spiller and Brandon Browner.
The Saints will hope drafting Andrus Peat will help fill the void on the offensive line following the departure of Ben Grubbs.
The fate of the New Orleans Saints will rest on the shoulders of Brees again this year, but this time, he has fewer tools to work with.
19. Carolina Panthers
14 of 32
Last Year's Record: 7-8-1
Carolina's defense already boasts Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis, and now it has added linebacker Shaq Thompson with its first pick in this year's draft. Thompson may be a risky pick that early in the draft, but he has the potential to be great.
The loss of DeAngelo Williams creates problems for Carolina, but it is still the best team in the NFC South.
Cam Newton also has the ability to earn a few wins for the Panthers on his own. The Panthers moved early in the second round to give Newton a target man in Devin Funchess.
18. St. Louis Rams
15 of 32
Last Year's Record: 6-10
All aboard the Todd Gurley-hype train. The Georgia running back may be the best rushing prospect to enter the league since Adrian Peterson.
The St. Louis Rams may not have needed a running back in the first round, but they could not pass up on the potential for greatness.
Jeff Fisher also pulled the trigger to send Sam Bradford to the Philadelphia Eagles, making his new starting quarterback Nick Foles.
Fans across the league will be wishing Gurley the best of luck in his recovery, hoping to see him start for the Rams in Week 1.
17. Houston Texans
16 of 32
Last Year's Record: 9-7
The Houston Texans made big acquisitions defensively this offseason, bringing in Vince Wilfork from the Patriots and drafting cornerback Kevin Johnson in the first round.
However, the Texans lost one of the faces of their franchises when Andre Johnson left town to join the Indianapolis Colt.
Houston hopes DeAndre Hopkins and newly drafted Jaelen Strong can step up and replace some of Johnson's production.
The Texans will remain a defense-first team in 2015. No quarterback will want to look across the line of scrimmage to see J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Vince Wilfork.
16. San Diego Chargers
17 of 32
Last Year's Record: 9-7
Philip Rivers is still a Charger, and Marcus Mariota is not in San Diego, despite all the talk surrounding draft day.
The Chargers allowed Ryan Mathews to walk away but found a possible replacement in Melvin Gordon. The running back from Wisconsin could prove to have an immediate impact and provide San Diego with a workhorse for years to come.
The Chargers will need Rivers to continue to play as usual and hope Gordon can provide stability at the running back position.
15. Cincinnati Bengals
18 of 32
Last Year's Record: 10-5-1
The Cincinnati Bengals added depth to their offensive line in the first two rounds of the draft this year in Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher.
Defensive lineman Charles Johnson also rejoins the team after spending only one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bengals are set up for yet another similar year of challenging for the division title and then losing in the first round of the playoffs.
14. Miami Dolphins
19 of 32
Last Year's Record: 8-8
The Miami Dolphins signed Greg Jennings to replace Mike Wallace as a veteran wide receiver presence.
The Dolphins also drafted DeVante Parker in the first round, adding an explosive weapon for Ryan Tannehill. Parker may have been an even higher prospect if he did not miss the first half of last season due to injury.
Miami also landed the biggest prize in free agency in Ndamukong Suh.
13. Arizona Cardinals
20 of 32
Last Year's Record: 11-5
Can you name all the players who started for the Cardinals at quarterback last season? Arizona drafted D.J. Humphries to shore up the offensive line in an attempt to keep Carson Palmer healthy.
The Cardinals also added Mike Iupati in free agency this offseason. Arizona lost defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, but its still contains an intimidating defense featuring Patrick Peterson.
The Cards won 11 games last year, and they could improve if they do not have to stretch all the way to their fourth-string quarterback this year.
12. Detroit Lions
21 of 32
Last Year's Record: 11-5
Ndamukong Suh may find himself on a different team next season, but the Lions still have reason to hope. Detroit acted aggressively this offseason trading for Haloti Ngata from the Baltimore Ravens to fill the void on the defensive line.
Detroit also still has a deadly offense with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. The Lions also impressed on the second day of the draft by bringing in Ameer Abdullah.
Detroit needs to limit the throws for Stafford, and drafting a running back in the second round may help that mission.
11. Kansas City Chiefs
22 of 32
Last Year's Record: 9-7
Kansas City acquired talent at skill positions this offseason in both free agency and the draft. Jeremy Maclin joined his old coach Andy Reid after a successful return season with the Philadelphia Eagles following an ACL tear.
The Chiefs got nearly nothing from their wide receivers last season, but now they have a proven wideout for Smith to throw to.
The Chiefs took a gamble bringing in the highly talented cornerback Marcus Peters. Kansas City will hope his character issues are behind him and he can help force some turnovers.
10. Pittsburgh Steelers
23 of 32
Last Year's Record: 11-5
The Steelers will enter next season without the long locks of their era-defining safety Troy Polamalu following the player's retirement.
As expected, Pittsburgh focused heavily on the defensive secondary drafting three defensive backs in an attempt to replace the losses of Ike Taylor and Brice McCain as well.
The Steelers also drafted the athletically gifted pass-rusher Bud Dupree with the 22nd overall pick in an attempt to continue the tradition of strong linebacker play in Pittsburgh.
9.Buffalo Bills
24 of 32
Last Year's Record: 10-6
Rex Ryan is in town. Ryan remains in the AFC East, but this season, he will be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills made a splash early this offseason bringing in LeSean McCoy by trading Kiko Alonso to the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans will be excited to watch the shifty running back next season, but there are still concerns at the quarterback position.
Matt Cassel joins the Bills, creating a low-stakes quarterback battle with EJ Manuel. Buffalo's defense will continue to be dominant, but Ryan did not exactly breed young quarterbacks during his time in New York.
8.Baltimore Ravens
25 of 32
Last Year's Record: 10-6
The Baltimore Ravens lost veteran wide receiver Torrey Smith to the San Francisco 49ers, leaving a hole to fill at the wide receiver position.
The Ravens addressed this need in the first round by selecting Breshad Perriman from Central Florida. The talented wide receiver possesses all of the physical tools to success in the NFL but needs to limit his drops.
Baltimore also drafted tight end Maxx Williams to replace Owen Daniels. The Ravens will hope Chris Canty can also lessen the blow of losing Haloti Ngata.
7.Philadelphia Eagles
26 of 32
Last Year's Record: 10-6
In Chip Kelly Philadelphia trusts. The evil mastermind kept Eagles fans on their toes this offseason, essentially shaking up the entire roster.
Philadelphia favorites LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin and Trent Cole all find themselves on different NFL rosters next season, as Kelly continues to put his stamp on the roster.
The one move Eagles fans hoped Kelly would make did not come to fruition. The Eagles sat tight and allowed the Tennessee Titans to select Marcus Mariota.
Instead, Philadelphia found an instant replacement for Maclin in the draft with Nelson Agholor. The Southern California wide receiver is arguably the second-most pro-ready wideout behind Amari Cooper.
Kelly made a lot of moves to improve the defense this offseason, but the fate of the Eagles still relies on Sam Bradford's glass knees.
6. Dallas Cowboys
27 of 32
Last Year's Record: 12-4
The Cowboys finished ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East season, but Dallas lost the league's leading rusher to its division rival in the offseason.
People expected the Cowboys to either trade for Adrian Peterson or move up and draft a running back in the first round to replace DeMarco Murray. Instead, Dallas remained calmed and executed a successful draft.
The Cowboys arguably got the steal of the draft in the second round if Randy Gregory fulfills his potential and avoids off-field issues. At the same time, Dallas selected combine standout Byron Jones to its defensive secondary.
Dallas will need to rely on veteran Darren McFadden to remain healthy this season, which is far from a guarantee.
5. Indianapolis Colts
28 of 32
Last Year's Record: 11-5
The Indianapolis Colts signed a lot of veteran experience this offseason, bringing in Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Todd Herremans and Trent Cole.
The Colts continue to build their franchise around Andrew Luck but fail to solve their problems on the defensive side. Indianapolis drafted speed demon Phillip Dorsett from Miami. This hardly fills a need, as the Colts already have burners in T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief.
It's more of the same for Indianapolis, as it relies on Luck to take the team as far as he can. In this case, that looks pretty good as he continues to develop and now has a possession target in Johnson.
4.Denver Broncos
29 of 32
Last Year's Record: 12-4
Offensive guru Gary Kubiak takes over the reigns in Denver, but make no mistake—this offense still belongs to Peyton Manning.
The 39-year-old quarterback may be declining but is still an elite quarterback in the league. Manning lost Julius Thomas to free agency but will make the players around him better, including new tight end Own Daniels.
Denver also added to its strength on defense with the selection of Shane Ray. The linebacker from Missouri fell in the draft following a marijuana citation. Now the talented pass-rusher joins Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware on the Broncos.
3. Green Bay Packers
30 of 32
Last Year's Record: 12-4
The Packers addressed their needs in the defensive secondary with their selections of Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins. However fifth-round quarterback Brett Hundley should not expect to see the field anytime soon in Green Bay.
Not everyone is pleased with Green Bay's draft, but it still boasts one of the best offenses in the league. The Packers will be a Super Bowl contender as long as Aaron Rodgers is slinging the rock in Wisconsin.
2. Seattle Seahawks
31 of 32
Last Year's Record: 12-4
What quarterback would not want the option to throw to Jimmy Graham? The Seahawks made a big splash this offseason trading for the Saints' top offensive playmaker.
Marshawn Lynch also appears to be set for the 2015 season after deciding not to retire. Russell Wilson will be glad to have both old faithfuls in the backfield as well as his new toy at tight end.
The Seattle Seahawks are shaping up nicely to make a third consecutive run to the Super Bowl.
1. New England Patriots
32 of 32
Last Year's Record: 12-4
The defending Super Bowl champions are a well-oiled machine. The Patriots lost Vince Wilfork this offseason but replaced him with top talent Malcom Brown from Texas.
New England beefed up its lines in the draft with six picks in the first five rounds. The Patriots kept true to their tradition of being active on draft weekend by adding 11 new faces to their roster.
As long as Bill Belichick is calling the shots and Tom Brady is leading the troops on the field, the New England Patriots will be perennial contenders.
