Rahane and Watson Set Up Total
Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane put on 144 together last time out as the Royals beat Chennai Super Kings, and the openers were at it again on Tuesday.
They put huge pressure on the Kings XI Punjab bowlers as they scored 95 together, before Watson fell in the 12th over for 45 to leave Rajasthan well-placed at 95-1.
Rahane went on to score 74 from 54 balls, with six fours and two sixes. He eventually fell to Mitchell Johnson, but again the Royals openers set them up for a big score.
Karun Nair's 13-ball 25 was a handy contribution, and Rajasthan eventually posted 191, setting up Kings XI for a big chase.
Marsh and Miller the Key for Kings XI
In the chase, Kings XI always looked on the back foot, but key knocks from Shaun Marsh and David Miller saw them tie things up after 20 overs.
Marsh, in his first match of the tournament, hit 65 off just 40 deliveries with five fours and three sixes, to keep Kings XI up with the run-rate in the middle overs.
Miller took up the mantle when Marsh fell, his 30-ball 54 putting Kings XI in serious contention before he fell with 13 balls remaining.
Mitchell Johnson and Axar Patel managed to put on 25 of the 26 runs needed for the win to force the super over.
Marsh was essential in the super over as Kings XI posted 15, and Johnson then got the two wicketsโof Watson and Steve Smithโto secure victory.
