Carlos Rodon Recalled from Triple-A Charlotte by White Sox
Less than one year after the Chicago White Sox selected Carlos Rodon third overall in the MLB draft, they're calling him up from the Charlotte Knights.
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that the left-hander will make his arrival Monday and begin in the bullpen. The White Sox went on to confirm the roster move, via Phil Rogers of MLB.com.
Rodon spent time in 2014 with Chicago's Arizona League, Single-A and Triple-A affiliates and started out the 2015 season in Charlotte. During his brief time in the minors, he made eight starts and 11 total appearances, posting a 3.15 ERA, 51 strikeouts and 17 walks in 34.1 innings pitched.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
This news comes less than a week after Kris Bryant made his long-awaited MLB debut with the White Sox's neighbors to the north, the Chicago Cubs. On Friday, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Bryant's call-up wouldn't affect how the team handled Rodon, per Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago:
MLB.com and Baseball America ranked Rodon as the 15th-best prospect in baseball to start the year. He sits eighth on FanGraphs' list and 41st on Baseball Prospectus.
FanGraphs' Craig Edwards made the case Friday that Rodon might prove to be a better option for the White Sox starting rotation over either John Danks or Hector Noesi. Matt Spiegel of 670 The Score in Chicago would like to see Rodon starting right out of the gate:
"I know it worked to use Sale out of the bullpen first. But Rodon is a SP. And a ready one. All these divisional matchups early. Start him.
— Matt Spiegel (@MattSpiegel670) April 19, 2015"
It seems likely Rodon will step into the rotation at some point this year, whether he's replacing Danks, Noesi or somebody else.
Chicago hasn't gotten off to a great start this year. The White Sox are tied with the Cleveland Indians for the worst record in the American League Central. Rodon won't single-handedly turn the White Sox's season around, but he might help provide a much-needed boost to propel the team up the standings.
