Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich Rocked by Medical Staff Walkout Amid Injury Crisis
If Bayern Munich's 3-1 Champions League defeat to Porto didn't sting enough, Pep Guardiola's side have now been been hit with the news renowned doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt and his team have quit.
The reason, according to Muller-Wohlfahrt, is because the medical staff were blamed for the quarter-final first-leg loss at the Estadio do Dragao.

The doctor released an official statement, as reported by Oliver Todd of the MailOnline: "After the Champions League match of Bayern Munich against Porto the medical department was for some inexplicable reason made primarily responsible. The bond of trust is damaged."
Guardiola's reaction was tweeted by Eurosport:
The boss also confirmed that, despite recent troubles, he intends to still be in charge next season. Pep's comment was tweeted by the Champions League's official account:
Muller-Wohlfahrt's son Kilian, Peter Ueblacker and Lutz Hansel have also followed the leading doctor through the Allianz Arena door, a decision which was taken less than a week after Guardiola appeared to sarcastically applaud the bench when Mehdi Benatia came off injured against Bayer Leverkusen, as tweeted by Boylesports:
It is suggested the Spanish coach has grown frustrated with seeing many of his stars remain on the sideline due to injury problems.
Alongside Benatia, the likes of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez and Holger Badstuber have suffered seasons interrupted with fitness problems. Thiago Alcantara, who grabbed Bayern's consolation against Porto, has only just returned from a nightmarish year on the recovery table.

Pep alluded to this bad fortune after the match, as reported by Todd: "We have players who were out a long time with injuries. Their legs don't last very long. It's a tough result to take into the second leg, but we'll give it a go."
Bundesliga specialist Clark Whitney provided further information on 72-year-old Muller-Wohlfahrt moving on:
Despite persistent injury problems, Bayern currently sit 10 points clear of Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. A huge effort will be needed to overturn their Champions League deficit, a result which was largely brought on by individual mistakes at the back.

The German club now have to find a replacement for one of the sport's most well-respected doctors. Muller-Wohlfahrt's work reaches far beyond football, with Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan, Boris Becker and U2 singer Bono among his clients. As well as working with Bayern since 1977, he has also enjoyed a post with the German national team for the last 19 years.
Many supporters may be frustrated to see such an influential member of the team depart. Whether Guardiola blamed the medical staff for defeat or not, his intensity can be overpowering at times. His clap toward the bench in the Leverkusen match was evidence of a man who isn't always willing to admit his own mistakes.

It's destined to be an interesting end to the season for the club. Overturning the Porto tie will remain Guardiola's priority, as Bayern have rarely looked like winning the Champions League since Jupp Heynckes led them to glory in 2013.
Guardiola's tenure will ultimately be measured by his success in the competition. Right now, this year's European campaign is hanging by a thread.
