Gomez Reinstated from Disabled List
Saturday, May 2
of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about his desire to return for today's game:
""I’m going to tell you this: I think Saturday for sure," he said. "Because I’m tired of watching."
Gomez has been on the DL since April 17 with a strained right hamstring. In a best-case scenario he’d return to the field Friday, but an off-day on Thursday complicates the situation a bit.
"I feel fine to play to my level," Gomez said. "I think it’s tough because we’ve got a day off and then play. After you come through an injury, it’s tough to play right away (after a day off). I don’t think it’s good for you.
"After a day off you feel no good and tight."
"
Gomez originally went on the DL on April 17, when the Brewers announced the move.
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first provided the details of Gomez's injury on April 16:
Gomez, 29, hit .235/.257/.441 with one home run and six RBI during the Brewers' first eight games. Despite his slow start, the Brewers have to be excited by his return to the lineup.
