Liverpool Transfer News: Javier Hernandez Targeted, Latest Pedro Rumours
Liverpool will reportedly attempt to sign Javier Hernandez from Manchester United at the end of the season, with the long-term future of the Mexico international a major source of speculation.
As noted by Jamie Sanderson of Metro, Fichajes.net has reported that there is interest in the on-loan Real Madrid man from the Reds, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. A transfer fee of £14 million has also been cited for the player, who has made just one league start for Los Blancos all season.

There have also been rumours linking Hernandez with a potential move to Major League Soccer. According to Bleacher Report’s Matteo Bonetti, a switch stateside would be a fine decision on the part of the man known as Chicharito:
But there’s a sense that Hernandez still has a lot to offer in European football and according to Mark Ogden of The Telegraph, he will reject the chance to move to MLS in favour of a stay in the continent, although he has been told by Louis van Gaal that he has no future at Old Trafford.
Regardless of the lack of game time that he’s had for both the Red Devils and Los Blancos over the past couple of campaigns, he remains one of the very best poachers about. If a team could accommodate him, Chicharito could be a massive influence.

Though he could be an asset to a Premier League team, a move to Liverpool looks unlikely. Not only is the rivalry between the clubs a massive obstacle but the reported fee of £14 million seems well over the top for a player who has just over one year left on his United deal. Chicharito is probably a little too one-dimensional to command a starting spot at an elite side too.
That’d pose a problem for Hernandez, who desperately needs minutes if he’s to preserve his goalscoring touch. As noted by ESPN’s Mexican football expert Tom Marshall, with a lot of clubs set to be interested in his services, he has a massive decision to make this summer:
For a club such as West Ham or Spurs, the Mexican could be a very savvy acquisition. However, for teams pushing to cement their status as a Champions League side, he’s not quite got the requisite all-round game. As such, expect Liverpool to turn elsewhere to bolster their forward options.
Fresh Pedro Rumours

After Pedro was handed a rare start for Barcelona in their recent 4-0 win over Almeria, the player spoke about his future at the Camp Nou club, insisting that he is set to hold discussions with Barcelona about his current circumstances.
“I have a tricky situation,” Pedro said, per Alex Casanovas of AS. “When the right time comes about, I’ll discuss that with the club.”

Liverpool have been linked with the 27-year-old for a while now, per Pete Jenson of the MailOnline, but if a player of his pedigree becomes available, you suspect there will be a clutch of clubs looking to land him. Indeed, according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t AS), Serie A giants Internazionale have already held discussions with the Spain international.
Here are the qualities he could potentially add to Brendan Rodgers’ side:
The forward was shunted down the Barcelona pecking order by the arrival of Luis Suarez last summer. Naturally, with the Uruguayan, Neymar and Lionel Messi flourishing as an attacking trio, minutes have been hard to come by, and even when he has been handed chances as of late, he’s done little to impress.

As noted by Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez, the player no longer boasts the spark that made him such a key man for the team in previous campaigns:
Pedro has enjoyed wonderful success with the club, and his skilful forays down the flank have regularly thrilled the Blaugrana faithful. But this season, everything seems to have become stale, and with a plethora of quality clubs reportedly keen on his services, it’d be a big surprise if he didn’t opt for a move in the summer.
Liverpool would be an excellent destination for him too. The Reds are currently lacking in orthodox wingers, and he would add a raw edge to their attacking play. If Rodgers can convince Pedro his long-term future lies at Anfield, the Spain international could become one of the best signings of his Liverpool tenure.
