Allen Expected to Play in Game 1 vs. Portland
Sunday, April 19
Michael Wallace of ESPN reported that Allen went through shootaround prior to Game 1 vs. Portland with the expectation of playing in the contest. Allen is officially listed as a game-time decision.
On April 15, Rob Fischer, Grizzlies sideline reporter, reported that head coach Dave Joerger didn't expect to have Allen in Game 1.
On March 27, Allen had to leave a matchup with the Golden State Warriors with a hamstring strain, according to Fischer.
The 33-year-old Allen is recognized as one of the top perimeter defenders in the NBA, and he contributes across the board with per-game averages of over eight points, four rebounds and two steals.
Memphis was able to cement a playoff spot without Allen down the stretch, but his health will be instrumental in determining their postseason success.
