Ben Grubbs to Chiefs: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
The New Orleans Saints continued their offseason overhaul Thursday by shipping guard Ben Grubbs to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a draft pick.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints will receive a fifth-round selection in the 2015 NFL draft for the veteran offensive lineman:

The Saints later confirmed the move. On Friday, March 13, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk also reported that the Chiefs and Grubbs have agreed to a new four-year, $24 million contract.
Grubbs has spent each of the past three seasons in New Orleans, and he started every game at left guard during that time. Grubbs was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after earning his first Pro Bowl nod in 2011 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
The 31-year-old Grubbs has been viewed as one of the NFL's best guards since entering the league in 2007, but this is clearly a cost-cutting move on the Saints' part.
Per Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate, trading Grubbs saves the Saints a good chunk of cap space:
This move comes just days after New Orleans surprisingly traded tight end Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for center Max Unger and a first-round pick.
Replacing Grubbs certainly won't be easy, but it is apparently a move the Saints felt they had to make in order to make improvements elsewhere, specifically on defense.
Grubbs will have a chance to block for superstar running back Jamaal Charles in Kansas City, so he figures to be a great fit.
It didn't cost the Chiefs much to land a Pro Bowl-caliber guard in Grubbs, and it is a move that could ultimately go a long way toward helping them return to the playoffs in 2015.
