Patriots Parade 2015: Best Moments from New England's Super Bowl Celebration

Adam WellsFeb 5, 2015

For a team with one of the most boring head coaches in all of professional sports, the New England Patriots know how to throw a celebration parade. It helps when you have personalities like Rob Gronkowski, LeGarrette Blount and Julian Edelman to liven things up.

Any concerns that Boston's enthusiasm for the Super Bowl parade would be dampened by cold, snowy weather, as well as the fact that the city has gone through nine of these since 2001, were quickly squashed by the throngs of fans in the streets.

To put a final bow on New England's incredible victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, here's a look back at the best moments from the Patriots' parade.

It's only fitting to start with Gronkowski, as he's got the most personality of anyone on the team and clearly knows how to party.

The All-Pro tight end tweeted out after the parade that Boston knows how to throw a celebration:

That's saying something from a person who has his own party bus, but not many people are going to take time to hang off the back of a duck boat:

I'm sure Bill Belichick loved seeing one of his best players hanging off the back of a duck boat, regardless of how fast it was moving, but fortunately, no one was injured.

While Gronkowski got close to the fans in his own unique way, Blount took a more conventional approach by simply cozying up to the people and taking a selfie, via the Patriots' official Twitter:

Edelman was arguably the most important player on New England's offense during the Super Bowl, with nine catches for 109 yards and one touchdown. He also made a crucial fourth-quarter catch for 21 yards on 3rd-and-14 with the Patriots down 24-14.

At the parade, Edelman didn't hold back anything. The Patriots wide receiver held up a sign mocking Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who was talking trash about Darrelle Revis during the game, via At the Buzzer:

Speaking of Sherman and the Legion of Boom, Devin McCourty fired his own shots during the parade after Sports Illustrated featured the Seahawks secondary on the cover of last week's issue:

While there aren't many people who would take New England's secondary over Seattle's, he who holds the ring has all the power. Last year, it was the Seahawks. This year, the Patriots make all the rules.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Patriots do with that secondary going into 2015, as McCourty is a free agent and the team holds an option on Revis.

No celebration would be complete without a mention of Tom Brady, the Super Bowl MVP. He seemed more emotional than normal after this win, which might be explained with the help of this Instagram post from his wife, Gisele Bundchen:

There was also this moment shared between father and son during the parade, via ESPN's NFL Twitter feed:

Brady went 10 years between Super Bowl victories and is 37 years old now. This is his first championship as a father and husband, so it shouldn't have been a surprise to see that there was a different level of appreciation for this one than the previous three.

There's no reason to think the Patriots won't be a factor in the playoff race in 2015. They have won six consecutive division titles and haven't gone home before the AFC Championship Game since 2010. Whether they are able to go back-to-back is another story, so making this celebration count was a priority for everyone.
