Detroit Piston's 10 Most Exciting Game's For The 2009-2010 Season
Sometime's a change of pace is a good thing and the 2009-2010 Detroit Piston's season is on its way with lots of big changes in the fold.
Let's take a look at 10 of the most exciting games on their schedule.
1. Wednesday, November 25—Cleveland Cavaliers at Detroit
Cleveland comes to Detroit with "the Diesel" Shaquille O' Neal and Lebron James, and you can expect a high scoring affair. It will be interesting to watch Detroit head coach John Kuester work against his former boss, Cleveland head coach Mike Brown.
2. Wednesday, January 20—Boston Celtics at Detroit
Wait, Rasheed Wallace has been sighted. And he's back in the Palace of Auburn Hills. Really? Yes, Really. And here's the kicker, he's playing with Paul Pierce, Keven Garnett, Ray Allen, and the Boston Celtics.
Is it time to boo Rasheed or will we cheer him? Well, I'll leave that up to the Piston fans. Expect a sold out-and-loud Palace to see the return of Rasheed in of all things a Celtics jersey.
I'd like to see, just for old times sake, Rasheed get just one technical foul. Just give the referee a "WHAT?!", "AWE MAN!" and throw the basketball into the stands. I won't boo Rasheed. He just too cool. But, the other Celtic players will get an earful.
3. Tuesday, November 17—Detroit at Los Angeles Lakers
The Pistons will have their hands full dealing with the defending NBA Champs. Once again, Kobe Bryant will look for ways to get to the hoop against Detroit in the Staples Center.
Detroit will also have to deal with NBA player and rapper Ron Artest. Add Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol too, and it will be another great Pistons vs. Lakers game.
4. Thursday, December 10—Denver Nuggets at Detroit
The last time Denver Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups came to Detroit, you'd think "Elvis" was in concert that night. The arena was so loud when they called Chauncey's name that car alarms in the parking lot were set off.
On this night, Detroit fans will also get to see former Piston Arron Afflalo, along with great forward Carmelo Anthony.
Interesting note that two former Cincinnati Bearcats will be facing each other in Kenyon Martin and Jason Maxiell. And I always like seeing Denver head coach George Karl on the sideline. Some of coach Karl's reactions to foul calls are classic.
5. Sunday, February 21—San Antonio Spurs at Detroit
The talent-loaded San Antonio Spurs roll into the Palace of Auburn Hills on this night and Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Former Piston forward Antonio McDyess, and eight year vet guard/forward Richard Jefferson will be well worth the price of a ticket.
Piston's point guard Rodney Stuckey better lace up his shoes real tight—Tony Parker will be taking the ball to the hoop all night.
If Parker can't get to the hoop he'll pass off to Duncan, Jefferson, or Manu Ginobili.
It will be good to see Antonio McDyess again. Antonio never got a ring in Detroit, maybe with San Antonio he will.
6. Wednesday, December 2—Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bull's
On this night, Piston's guard Ben Gordon will return to Chicago for the first time since leaving in free agency.
I really didn't follow Ben's career with the Bulls, so I don't know how Chicago's fans will react but my gut feeling is that when one of your leading scorers leaves and signs with a rival team, the fans won't be making Ben a cake or sending a dozen roses.
This game should be well worth watching for any Pistons or Bulls fans.
7. Saturday, November 21—Detroit Piston's at Utah Jazz
The Detroit Pistons will head out west and play the Utah Jazz. The Pistons and, I imagine, the rest of the NBA have a hard time winning in Salt Lake City.
The Piston will need to be very focused to beat the Jazz. The Jazz still have power forward Mehmet Okur, the former Piston second round draft pick, and he'll be hellbent
on destroying Detroit anytime they face off. Utah also has Carlos Boozer, guard Deron Williams, and forward Andrei Kirilenko.
8. Sunday, December 20—Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit
Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers come to town. Showdown in Motown or whatever you want to call it. Not only are the bitter rival Lakers in town, but Ron Artest will be playing for them.
I'm thinking Ron Artest is more hated than Kobe Bryant. It will be a very vocal crowd at the Palace. Both teams will be playing hard for 48 minutes.
9. Wednesday, October 28—Detroit at Memphis
When three of your starting five players have left the team, it's real important for the new squad to gel as quick as possible. This season the Pistons open on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have a really young team like the Pistons (Memphis' oldest player in NBA years is eight year vet Zack Randolph) and the Grizzlies are an extremely tall roster as well.
It will be up to the Pistons vet players to mold this roster together and get the team going for this season.
10. Monday, March 15—Detroit Pistons at Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics will host the Detroit Piston's and sparks will be flying. Everybody remembers Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, and Rick Mahorn. It should be a very loud and exciting game.
