NFL Playoff Picture 2015: Championship Bracket Scenarios and Super Bowl Odds

R. Cory SmithJan 17, 2015

With the Super Bowl just weeks away, this Sunday will finally settle who actually plays in the big game.

Both sides of the bracket will feature teams who faced one another in the regular season. In a year where nothing has seemed predictable, this weekend is a similar story for the NFL.

The Indianapolis Colts travel to take on the New England Patriots without a win against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick during the Andrew Luck era. Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers will attempt to bounce back from a blowout loss in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Championship Scenarios

At this point, the winner of each game earns a coveted berth into the 2015 Super Bowl. However, who actually makes it to Glendale, Arizona, will tell us more about who might lift the Lombardi Trophy.

If the Seahawks find a way to advance, they would have to shut down another prolific offense against the Colts or Patriots. Luckily, they have plenty of experience with that on the big stage after dismantling Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos last season. Even if they make it, there should be no concern over Seattle in the Super Bowl.

As for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, they already have a stiff test against the Seahawks defense. But with a plethora of weapons like Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Eddie Lacy, Rodgers has an offense to take down Seattle.

Peter Schrager of Fox Sports believes that improved offense will be enough to lead the Packers to the Super Bowl:

"

Fully healthy or not, Rodgers can still sling it. He's also rarely the underdog. Remember, the last two times Green Bay was on the road — in Buffalo and Tampa Bay — Rodgers struggled mightily.

He’s heard the whispers that won’t fly in the postseason. I think he saves his best for last. ... I think they put up enough points and the defense does enough to stop the Seattle run game. Packers win and are Arizona bound.

"

On the other side, the Patriots might be facing off with either one of the best overall offenses in the league or the top running tandem. With the way Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch have played this season, just the running game alone can be hard to handle.

New England features a strong group of defensive players with Darrelle Revis at the head, but the Colts have a corner that has statistically been the best defensive back in the league. With Vontae Davis leading the way, Indy might just have what it takes to slow down the Pats, Seahawks and Packers.

Pete Damilatis of Pro Football Focus and Colts.com's Kevin Bowen provide staggering stats for Davis:

Potentially playing on the same field as Revis and Richard Sherman in consecutive games, Davis will get to prove his worth. Regardless of how it all shakes out, there will be myriad defensive and offensive stars on the NFL's biggest stage on Feb. 1.
