New York Giants vs. St. Louis Rams: Live St. Louis Score and Analysis

Steven GerwelDec 21, 2014

The St. Louis Rams (6-9) suffered a humiliating 37-27 loss to the New York Giants (6-7) on their own turf.

The Rams entered this game with extra rest following a Thursday night game last week. That, combined with the fact that this was the home finale, makes this lifeless, ill-prepared, lackluster performance beyond mind boggling.

The St. Louis defense allowed just three touchdowns in its previous four contests, but the unit allowed four this game alone. The pressure was non-existent, the tackling was pathetic and the coverage was horrendous.

The offense had a nice 27-point showing, which should be more than enough points for the St. Louis defense to secure the win, but we saw mistakes on their end too.

A bad snap by center Scott Wells ruined a touchdown attempt at the end of the second half and forced the Rams to kick the field-goal. Wells had another bad snap on the last drive, which pretty much wrapped up the game.

Shaun Hill also had a number of bad throws. We saw passes that were too short, too deep and too wide. Even on the deep touchdown pass to Chris Givens at the end, Givens had to stop in his tracks to secure the under-thrown pass.

Overall, it was a terrible effort on every level.

Now, the highest win total St. Louis can hope for is seven, which will match the win totals of the previous two seasons under Jeff Fisher. And that will only happen if the Rams can upset Seattle on the road next week—a highly unlikely outcome, considering the Rams haven't won in that venue in a decade.

On the bright side, a loss next week will give the Rams six wins, which should be close to a top-10 draft pick. That'll make it easier for the team to find a much-needed quarterback or offensive lineman.

Thank you for following, and be sure to stop by next week for the finale.
