A's and Indians Reach Deal for Moss
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that a deal between the A's and Indians is done:
On Dec. 4, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported who the A's were targeting:
"The A’s are in discussions that could net them a minor-league infielder from the Indians in exchange for outfielder Brandon Moss. Among the A’s targets, according to big league sources, is Double-A second baseman Joe Wendle, a strong prospect whose 2014 season was shortened by a broken hamate bone.
Wendle, 24, hit .295 with 16 homers and 64 RBIs at Class-A in 2013, .253 with eight homers and 50 RBIs in 87 games with Double-A Akron this past season. He was a sixth-round pick in 2012 out of West Chester (Pa.) University.
"
At the time, ESPN's Jayson Stark also reported the Athletics were looking to deal their slugging outfielder, while Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer reported the Indians believe they will get a deal done:

Indians's Interest in Moss Surfaces
Having already made one notable trade this offseason, the Oakland Athletics could be looking to make another one involving Brandon Moss.
According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, the Cleveland Indians have inquired about the availability of Moss in a possible trade:
MLB.com's Jane Lee notes that Cleveland isn't alone in its pursuit of the A's slugger:
It's impossible to know what Billy Beane is thinking, so any deal wouldn't be a surprise. Moss is a particularly interesting trade candidate. The 31-year-old is entering his second year of arbitration and is projected to make $7.1 million, according to Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com.
Moss' average has declined the last two years, going from .291 in 2012 to .234 in 2014, but his power is appealing to teams in need of another bat. He's hit 76 home runs and slugged .504 in three seasons with the A's, per Baseball-Reference.com.
If Oakland is going to focus on rebuilding its roster this offseason, trading an older player like Moss before he gets expensive would make sense.
