Filippo Inzaghi Needs Time to Make AC Milan Great Again
It seems that nearly every loss or draw from Milan, Filippo Inzaghi has had to take to the microphones and say that this squad needs patience to grow.
As any coach knows, success comes from patience, and patience is given through time. Inzaghi needs plenty of time to truly mold his image in the club, and one can only hope that Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani feel the same way.
Milan endured another draw this weekend, only managing a 1-1 scoreline at home against Fiorentina. A win would’ve put the Rossoneri in third place, but they weren’t able to take this prime opportunity by the horns.

After Milan set an example during the mid-2000s on coaching tenures, by keeping Carlo Ancelotti for nearly the entire decade, they’ve now cycled through three different coaches in the past calendar year.
This past January, Clarence Seedorf was brought in to repair the sinking ship that many blamed Massimiliano Allegri for. Seedorf, who had no experience coaching, only lasted six months and failed to get the club back into a European position.
Fast forward to the summer, and the ex-Milan trequartista had been fired for another Milan legend. Filippo Inzaghi was now given the keys to the organization after only having guided their youth setup in his short but promising coaching career.
Inzaghi, a fan favorite, has been very honest with his assessment of the club. He knows what a team that can really compete looks like, having spent time with some of the best sides in Milan’s history.
This current Rossoneri squad has an awkward mix of talent, with no real world-class player on the horizon. Pippo needs time to allow his ideas to take shape. He has already insisted on playing an offensive 4-3-3, but doesn’t have the required midfielders to play the type of champagne football that makes Silvio Berlusconi salivate.
Unfortunately, Riccardo Montolivo is still out with the leg injury he picked up against Ireland in a pre-World Cup friendly for the Italian national team.
Montolivo is the only true passer they have in the midfield, and the display against Fiorentina highlighted Milan’s main weakness.

The three holding midfielders in the center of the park simply cannot play enough quality balls to the forward, and they are dispossessed in a way that causes dangerous counter-attacks for the opposition.
While Inzaghi needs time, he also needs help from the people who sign the checks. More reinforcements are needed in the January transfer window, especially in the center of the park.
If the management listens to Inzaghi’s requests on what the team needs, then it’ll be a fruitful marriage that can go forward for years.
However, we've seen Silvio Berlusconi override managerial decisions plenty in the past, as the President always wants to have a say in tactical and technical matters revolving around the club.
Even if results don't go Milan's way, Filippo Inzaghi must be kept as he has already shown enough traits to be one of the better up-and-coming coaches in European football.
