Sheamus vs. The Miz: Winner and Reaction from 2014 Hell in a Cell
Sheamus continued his lengthy reign as United States champion Sunday night as The Celtic Warrior defeated The Miz at Hell in a Cell.
Not only did the Irish-born Superstar defeat WWE's self-professed A-list movie star, but he also overcame involvement from The Miz's stunt double, Damien Mizdow. Sheamus hit a Brogue kick to end the match after fending off an outside distraction, only to comically take advantage of the stunt double's commitment to his craft after the match.
Speaking of the double, he was the recipient of much praise after the match for his antics:

"Mizdow selling moves that Miz gets hit with will never get old.

The champ himself took to Twitter to celebrate:
Sheamus and Miz have been at odds for the past few weeks due largely to the champion's inability to defeat his irritating opponent. Although his victories weren't exactly decisive, The Miz managed to beat Sheamus in a pair of non-title encounters with help from Mizdow.
The Great White once again fell on the go-home edition of Raw prior to Hell in a Cell, as Mizdow pinned him in a six-man tag team match. Despite not actually being involved in the bout, Miz hilariously claimed victory.
He even bragged about the supposed win on Twitter afterwards:
While Sandow's transformation into Miz's stunt double initially seemed like little more than a joke, he has consistently been receiving favorable reactions and developing a sizable fan following.
That is mostly due to his entertaining antics outside of the ring during Miz's matches, as seen in this Vine courtesy of WWE's official Twitter account:
There is no question that Mizdow has embraced his role, and that much is evident based on the quality of work. Many have started to take notice, including WWE Hall of Famer and hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley:
With that said, The Miz is a big part of the act as well, and it can be argued that he and Mizdow represent the most over gimmick in the midcard currently. Because of that, many expected Miz and his "moneymaker" to come away with the United States Championship for a third time on Sunday.
Although that didn't happen, there are certainly some interesting possibilities on the horizon for Miz and Mizdow moving forward.
There is little doubt that a Mizdow face turn is imminent at some point, and that means Miz vs. Mizdow is bound to happen eventually. WWE would be wise to slow-play the potential feud because there has been such an organic groundswell of support for Mizdow, but the creative team has been known to rush things from time to time.
As the fans continue to rally behind Mizdow, The Miz is guaranteed to become jealous. That could lead to even more mistreatment of Mizdow before the stunt double becomes fed up and challenges his "employer" to a match.
That is the main angle that bears watching coming out of Sunday's match, which is somewhat disconcerting because the United States title is once again on the back burner. WWE struggles to make the midcard championships seem important, and that damages a Superstar like Sheamus in the process.
The former WWE and World Heavyweight champion is in need of a legitimate program that can help reestablish him as a true player within the company. Rusev, Bray Wyatt and perhaps even a returning Bad News Barrett are names that stick out as potential challengers in the near future.
Another option would be a feud with Mizdow, which could heighten tensions between the stunt double and Miz. Whatever the case, Sheamus is too talented to be an afterthought.
His win at Hell in a Cell kept gold around his waist, but WWE must do something to make it meaningful.
