Adrian Neville, Uhaa Nation and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News

Ryan DilbertOct 22, 2014

Adrian Neville continues to inch toward a promotion to the main roster, while Uhaa Nation may soon begin his WWE NXT career.

Neville worked against a former tag team champion during this week's TV tapings. Nation's opportunity to impress is on its way, as the indy star is one of several wrestlers WWE is set to consider.

In other WWE developmental news, Seth Rollins is scheduled for a return trip to Full Sail University, more word is out on NXT's part in WWE 2K15 and a former prospect has some negative things to say about WWE's office politics.

We begin with Nation, one of the most impressive potential prospects who has yet to sign.

Uhaa Nation Getting a Tryout

1 of 5

A blue-chip prospect is gearing up for a tryout. PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that "WWE is holding a week-long tryout for a number of new potential signees this week, including DGUSA star Uhaa Nation."

Nation is a fantastic athlete, brimming with power and possessing far more athleticism than a man built like a bodybuilder should have. A good amount of charisma will help him along as well.

Should WWE add Nation to the mix, the balance of power at NXT will shift in a dramatic way.

He has spent much of his career working for Dragon Gate USA but has wrestled with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Evolve Wrestling as well. WWE would be wise to have the next entry on his resume read "NXT."

NXT DLC in 'WWE 2K15'

2 of 5

NXT will not only be a part of WWE 2K15 in MyCareer mode but will also provide some of the downloadable content.

2K announced there will be a DLC pack entitled "NXT Arrival." This will include The Ascension and previous NXT general manager JBL as playable characters. Emma and Adam Rose, who have since left NXT behind, are part of the package as well.

The continued overlap of NXT and WWE has been exciting to watch. This is a small addition to a video game filled with much bigger names, but it's also increased exposure for both The Ascension and the NXT brand itself.

Seth Rollins Returning to NXT

3 of 5

NXT is set to welcome back the first-ever NXT champion: Seth Rollins. Writing for PWInsider, Mike Johnson reports that "Rollins will be appearing at this Thursday's NXT taping in Winter Park, FL."

That means someone from NXT is about to have a big-time opportunity.

Facing the winner of the Money in the Bank contract and one of WWE's fastest-rising heels is a great chance to make an impression. WWE would be smart to avoid having Sami Zayn or Adrian Neville battle him, as those men have already shown they're ready for the big stage.

Use this moment as a test for a less certain prospect. Put Rollins in there with Colin Cassady or Tyler Breeze.

Regardless of what the company does with him, though, it'll be fun to see him back in the place where his WWE run began.

Kenny Omega Talks WWE Developmental Experience

4 of 5

Kenny Omega took a shot at WWE developmentalat least a much older version of it.

Omega was a prospect with WWE back before NXT, when Deep South Wrestling was still the company's feeder system. He was a fan of the training system there and not so fond of the lead trainer.

In an interview with Under the Mat Radio, (h/t ProWrestling.net) Omega was asked about his experience at WWE developmental. He said, "There was a group that were tight with the boss, and they would always go out and drink and have barbecues. Then when WWE would say who should we look at? Bill DeMott would say, 'Oh look at this guy and this guy.' Of course, those were his buddies."

This is old news seeing that Omega left the company in 2006. Still, it's curious to hear of DeMott (who still trains at NXT) playing favorites.

Even with all the changes NXT has undergone, one can't expect backstage politics to just be washed out.

One has to wonder how much of this is bitterness talking, though, as WWE passed on Omega.

Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville Work Dark Matches

5 of 5

Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn continue to get opportunities to work in front of WWE crowds.

Per ProFightDB.com's listing for the Main Event and SmackDown tapings (note: links contains spoilers), Zayn defeated Titus O'Neil and Neville beat Heath Slater in dark matches on Tuesday.

It's worth noting that not only is WWE choosing these particular prospects for these spots, but that the company is booking them to win.

That's a great sign for both men. WWE appears to be slowly building them up, sliding them over from NXT to WWE proper.

It won't be long before those bouts are televised and not just used to warm up the crowd.
