Where the Damien Mizdow Character Should Go in the Near Future
While many are getting bored with the overkill of variations involving John Cena and Dean Ambrose vs. The Authority, there is a saving grace that lies in the midcard division. No, not the simple exchange of No. 1 contenders for their respective championships, but the one person that the WWE is getting more and more behind is a comedy act that struck gold over the past few weeks.
The transformation from Damien Sandow to Damien Mizdow.
At first, the gimmick was scoff-worthy, simply due to the numerous attempts for Sandow to make a name for himself but it failing miserably. When he initially was brought up from FCW, he picked up some quality wins against former world champions, immediately making an impression on the WWE radar. It seemed as if he was on the top of the list for at least a midcard title run, but that faded relatively quickly.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sandow's career took a big plummet after he split up with Cody Rhodes and won the 2013 Money in the Bank contract. As ironic as that sounds, Sandow was on the short end of his feud with Rhodes after the split and really went downhill after losing his World Heavyweight Championship match against John Cena on an episode of Raw. Since then, he has only won three singles matches in all of 2014, and four matches total.
However, there may be a silver lining in the dark cloud.
For the past few weeks, he has experienced a newfound popularity as "Damien Mizdow," a stunt double of the Miz. Initially, many fans were non-receptive of the gimmick change, seeing how he has played mock characters before unsuccessfully. However, as time went on, he used his comedic antics incredibly to garner more and more cheers from the crowd, slowly transitioning into a crowd favorite without intentionally doing so. Now WWE has unexpectedly struck a goldmine and must capitalize on the character.
In the coming months, the resounding popularity of Mizdow would be best suited as a stand-alone character. Miz should have another run as Intercontinental champion, but he becomes increasingly jealous of Mizdow. As a result, he starts to physically push him around and even books him in tough matches to prove himself as a worthy stunt double. This eventually draws the ire of Mizdow, and he breaks away from Miz just in time to set up a title match at WrestleMania 31. At WrestleMania, Mizdow captures his first title by defeating Miz, which would assuredly generate a huge reaction.
The Damien Mizdow character still has very good potential to go even further than what it is now, and it does not seem as if the fans will give up on him anytime soon. After he wins the title at WrestleMania, it would be quite funny for him to maintain the character for a significant period of time, mocking his opponents' gestures as he is facing them. Only then, he will be babyface and would not intentionally try to do things to draw crowd jeers.
Right now, and seemingly for a significant period in the future, Mizdow = Money. WWE must capitalize on this rise to popularity he is experiencing.
