Jonas Gutierrez Finishes Buenos Aires Marathon to Support Cancer Research
Former Newcastle and Norwich man Jonas Gutierrez isn't letting his battle against testicular cancer get the better of him.
"Spiderman" not only ran a marathon in his native Argentina over the weekend, he did so to benefit an Argentine cancer-prevention charity, Fuca (Foundation for Research, Teaching and Cancer Prevention).
Afterward, Gutierrez tweeted (translation via Chronicle Live): "Thank you very much to all the participants of the Buenos Aires Marathon 42k for the support and encouragement during the race."

Gutierrez raced alongside fellow runners who were in support of the same cause, which supported the work of oncologist Dr. Fernando Petracci. All of the runners wore bright green, and Gutierrez's shirt had invisible ink that revealed an anti-cancer message as the race went on.
Only days earlier, he tweeted a picture of himself appearing to go in for treatment.
The midfielder made 177 appearances for Newcastle.
