MLB Playoffs 2014: Viewing Info, Preview for Remainder of ALCS

Brian MaziqueOct 12, 2014

The Kansas City Royals look like a team of destiny. They have already jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over the Baltimore Orioles. On Monday, they will try to all but bury the Orioles in the series as the scene shifts to the Show-Me State. With one team set to snap a long World Series drought, the next few days should be compelling.

There's still a ton of baseball still left to be played, so it's good to know how you can watch every pitch remaining in the series. Here's the remaining schedule for the American League Championship Series and a closer look at what's left of the series.

Bad Signs for B-More

If the Orioles were losing low-scoring affairs, there would be hope that their explosive bats would somehow wake up and take over the series. That hasn't been the case, as Baltimore has averaged five runs per game in the series and still come up short in both games.

The Royals were the second-lowest-scoring team to make the postseason, but you wouldn't know it by what they've done in October.

They have averaged seven runs a game against the Orioles and six runs per contest in the previous four postseason matchups. The middle of Kansas City's lineup has become treacherous for opposing pitchers.

Check out these stats for Lorenzo Cain, Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon in the postseason.

Cain's superlative defense has also added to his value.

What's most impressive is that Kansas City has repeatedly come up with big hits late in close games. Both of the team's wins against the Orioles came on the strength of runs scored in the ninth and 10th innings.

Suddenly, this Royals offense isn't a weakness of the club, but a strength. When you factor that in with the pitching edge we already knew the Royals would enjoy, things look bleak for Baltimore.

Perhaps the most compelling question for the remainder of the series is not can the Orioles come back and take the series, but can they even win a game?

The O's will send Wei-Yin Chen to the mound in Game 3 in hopes of stemming the tide. He was roughed up in his only postseason start of the year. He allowed five earned runs in just 3.2 innings against the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series.

Baltimore hopes he and the rest of the Orioles can turn things around.
