Top 10 Under-The-Radar Teams For 2010 (& Beyond)

Ben CallowayJul 22, 2009

At first I tried to make this in the "Slide show" format, but unfortunately it wouldn't load for some reason. Instead, I didn't want to waste the work so I decided just to turn it into an article format.

This is a list of the TOP 10 teams they may come by surprise and have some success in the near future.

#10 Kansas City Royals: Although I don't expect the Royals to have a tremendous amount of success, they play in a weak division and have the potential to compete in years to come.

#9 Cincinnati Reds: The Reds have had some spurts of playing good ball in both of the last two seasons. Are they ready for a break-through season in years to come?

#8 Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays started off very hot this season, and have shown they can potentially compete. I lot of their future depends on what happens to Roy Halladay... we'll just have to wait and see.

#7 Seattle Mariners: The Seattle Mariners have played well this season, but it doesn't look like they'll have enough to make it to the post-season. They've already announced they have no intention of trading away any of their top players, showing they are hopeful to have success in the near future.

#6 Minnesota Twins: I'm not saying the Twins can't compete now, but they have a very bright future. They play in a weak division, have Joe Mauer, and have shown signs of a great ball club.

#5 Texas Rangers: The Texas Rangers are a good team with an excellent offense now, but they have a very bright future. With a great core of players, if they can get some pitching the can become one of the top teams in the league.

#4 Atlanta Braves: The Atlanta Braves have started to have some success again this season, but are still a little off. Tommy Hanson is a very bright spot for them, and he is only going to improve. Look for the Braves to become an AL East contender again soon.

#3 Houston Astros: The Houston Astros have shown some streaks of great baseball in each of the last two seasons. While other teams in the division like the Cards and Brewers are making trades, putting everything into this season, the Astros are keeping their prospects. They have great potential for success as early as 2010 or 2011.

#2 Colorado Rockies: Twice in the last couple of years, the Rockies have put together unbelievable streaks of great baseball. If the Rockies can put together a whole season of this great play, it would be hard for anyone to stop them. It will very interesting to see if this team can put together a season like this in the future.

#1 San Francisco Giants: The Giants have put together a great run this season, but they are lacking a bat and a couple other parts. Tim Lincecum is only going to get better, and if they can pick up a few parts in the off-season then they'll be very hard to beat. This team has a very bright future...
