The Top 25 Players In The Giants Organization

Matt RichardsJul 22, 2009

While the trade rumors fly, I wanted to rank the top 30 players in the Giants' organization for now and the future, and obviously it tops off with Tim Lincecum.

1. Tim Lincecum (Age 25)

Already one Cy Young, and possibly many more to come.

New York Yankees v. Chicago Cubs

2.  Pablo Sandoval (22)

The best hitter in their lineup in only his first full season, makes you wonder how   good Angel Villalona might be some day.

3.  Matt Cain (24)

Having his finest year and leading the Giants with 11 wins.

4.  Madison Bumgarner (19)

One of the top prospects if not the top prospect, has picked apart hitters in San Jose and Connecticut with ease.

5.  Buster Posey (22)

Hit .326 In Class-A adv. San Jose, recently called up to AAA Fresno

6.  Angel Villalona (18)

Possibly the future Pablo Sandoval, has been highly regarded since signing.

7.  Tim Alderson (20)

Dominated at San Jose last year, now pitching well in AA Connecticut.

8.  Brian Wilson

Second full season as closer, still learning but has obvious talent.

9.  Thomas Neal (21)

.345, 17 hrs., 63 RBI @ Class-A adv. San Jose

10.  Brandon Crawford

Struggling a bit in AA, but he showed great upside before his promotion from Adv.-A San Jose.

11.  Roger Kieschnick (22)

.300, 19 hrs, 77 RBI in San Jose

12.  Conor Gillaspie (22)

Hitting .284 in San Jose.

13.  Nate Schierholtz.

Finally getting a chance to play almost every day in the majors.

14.  Nick Noonan (20

32nd overall pick in the 2007 draft

15.  Bengie Molina

Rock solid at catcher

16.  Sergio Romo

Young reliever with a big breaking-frisbee slider

17.  Jonathan Sanchez

Huge upside, must work on control issues

18.  Henry Sosa

Possibly late inning reliever in the future

19.  Brandon Medders

Consistent middle relief is the norm

20.  Travis Ishikawa

Stellar defense, getting better at the plate, but he still needs to improve his plate discipline in order to be an everyday starter in the future.

21.  Emmanuel Burriss

Already has experience in the majors, but still has much he must improve.  Still young at only 24.

22.  Jesus Guzman

Raking in AAA, brief call up to the majors.

23.  John Bowker

10 hrs as a rookie in 2008, must lay off the bad breaking balls in order to get better pitches to drive.

24. Jeremy Affeldt

Dominant setup man, pleasant surprise for the 2009 season.

25.  Ryan Sadowski

Instant success in Milwaukee and against Houston, but he is still young and not too much can be expected from the Big Sedowski quite yet.
