Cubs Can't Score

The lack of run scoring just doesn’t make any sense.

Since June the Cubs have improved its average 38-points entering Wednesday’s game.

Yet, they’ve scored a meek two runs in two games against Philly.

With all the pop in this order there’s no excuse for the amount of quality starts wasted. And if it hasn’t come back to bite the Cubs just yet, it certainly will.

Lou says the team may need to add a bat or two by the trade deadline, but that’s highly unlikely given the club’s murky ownership.

It’s up to the players to start producing. Lou’s changed lineups, moved Soriano down in the order and taken Bradley under his wing.

Jim Hendry even went as far as firing hitting coach Gerald Perry. What more can be done from the coaching staff and front office?

Jeff Samardzija isn’t big league ready and the opposition keeps making this clear.

In his last four outings Samardzija has allowed six earned runs, walked five batters and done so in just 9.1 innings of work. Yikes!

I said Tuesday the Cubs should be happy if they can avoid a sweep at the hands of Philadelphia.

A win tomorrow is the difference between a successful 5-2 road trip and a mediocre 4-3 road swing.
