Detroit Tigers vs. Baltimore Orioles Game 1: Live Score and Highlights
FINAL SCORE: Tigers 3 - 12 Orioles; Baltimore leads ALDS, 1-0
The Baltimore Orioles took Game 1 of the ALDS in blowout fashion Thursday, and Camden was rocking all night. After two innings, the game's first five runs came on three homers and a single. The O's led 3-2 behind a rising pitch count for Chris Tillman (five IP, four H, six K, two ER).
Tillman went just five innings but allowed his only two runs on back-to-back homers by Victor Martinez (1-for-4) and J.D. Martinez (1-for-4) in the top of the second. Neither team pushed across another run until the bottom of the seventh, as Tillman and Max Scherzer were locked in and went toe-to-toe.

J.J. Hardy (1-for-3) provided the first insurance when he went yard to lead off the seventh—his first career postseason home run—making it a 4-2 gap.
Scherzer, who worked 7.1 innings, didn't pitch terribly, but he was far from sharp (seven H, five ER). He made a few mistakes that Baltimore ultimately capitalized on—including a two-run homer by Nelson Cruz (2-for-4, three RBI)—and his offense couldn't put it all together to buoy him into the latter stages of the ballgame.
Down 4-2 in the top of the eighth, Torii Hunter represented the tying run with no outs. But with Kinsler on the move, Hunter lined out to Hardy, who doubled off Kinsler at first. The next batter was Miguel Cabrera (1-for-3). Last season's Triple Crown winner homered to the opposite field to make it a 4-3 game, but the O's never looked back.
They exploded for eight runs on six hits in a seemingly never-ending bottom half of the eighth that sent 12 batters to the plate. The wheels totally fell off for the Detroit relief corps, as the O's went up free-swinging and batting around the order. Alejandro De Aza (2-for-4, two RBI) doubled twice in the frame.
For Baltimore, Tillman was eventually relieved by a bullpen that has sparkled all year long: Andrew Miller (1.2 IP, zero R), Darren O'Day (1.0 IP, one R), Zach Britton (0.1 IP, zero R) and Tommy Hunter (1.0 IP, zero R) all contributed to seal the opening game.
Detroit won't be able to reflect much on the Game 1 disaster, as Game 2 kicks off at noon Friday. The Tigers will look to bounce back behind Justin Verlander (15-12, 4.54 ERA), while Baltimore will send out left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (16-6, 3.54).
