NBA 2K15: Exploring Player Ratings and New Modes as Release Date Approaches
In the words of the hashtag campaign, NBA 2K15 fans' time has almost come. On Oct. 7, the game will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
With just under two weeks remaining before the release, we have almost all the nuggets of information associated with the game.
Obviously, graphics and gameplay are among the most important aspects of the game. However, player ratings and game modes help to add depth overall. A new player-ratings specialist has been hired to handle the numbers behind each player.
Mike Stauffer aka 2KStauff on Twitter is the architect of a new ratings philosophy that is designed to be a better representation of player roles and effectiveness.
We've already learned there will be four players rated 90 or above. Cover athlete Kevin Durant is rated a 95, and Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is the highest-rated player with 98. One of the other two players rated a 90 or above is San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan who has a 90.
The last star is as yet revealed, but it seems sensible to think Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul might be the guy.
In February, Paul was rated a 97 in one of the final ratings updates for NBA 2K14. Paul had a phenomenal season averaging 19.1 points, 10.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He's the most deserving of the 90-plus rating.

Modes and Features Galore
Face Scanning
Any conversation about NBA 2K15's modes and options has to start with the new face-scanning technology. Gamers can now scan their face into the game for use with their MyPlayers and character in MyGM modes.
"Just bought my PS4 Camera. Ready for #NBA2K15 16 more days!

How accurate are the renders? I can tell you from firsthand experience, the re-creations can be scary good. I was among a small group that traveled to 2K's headquarters to play the game early and to have my face scanned into the game.
Check out this video with yours truly representing. If you're thinking I look like a mix between Shaquille O'Neal and Bryon Russell, rest assured, I've heard the reference a million times.
It's most gamers' fantasy to see themselves in the game. Before now, there were decently detailed create-a-player options and EA Sports even had the GameFace technology, but this takes it to the next level.
GameFace used photographs, but NBA 2K's face-scanning technology uses the 3D-model of your face and it helps to bring a more accurate render. This feature is exclusive to PS4 and XB1.
2KTV
On Friday, Sept. 19, 2K Sports announced a new feature called 2KTV.
Essentially, it's a media hub and source for related streamed video and on-demand content. An original show is planned for the option that sits right in the middle of the game's main menu.
Check out the video featuring Durant and the very lovely Rachel A. DeMita:
"Surprise!!!! #NBA2KTV :) https://t.co/8AXdnQ31Qr

This is the perfect spot for top plays from the community and roster updates.
MyLeague and MyGM
For gamers who love customization, the MyLeague and MyGM modes are sure to be right up your alley. Read the details on MyLeague here via Steve Noah of Operation Sports, and check out the specifics related to MyGM from Matt Bertz of Game Informer.
Full customization of rosters, season and postseason lengths are all possible with this ultimate sandbox option. MyGM returns with promises that a few of the issues with the salary cap and an over-dependency on virtual currency have been resolved.
Having the ability to use classic and European rosters is exciting for roster nuts like myself. This will likely be the first mode I jump into when I get my hands on the game.
