WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Full Card Predictions After Night of Champions

Ryan DilbertSep 21, 2014

WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 is a chance for revenge and second chances after a night of frustration for those who suffered defeat at Night of Champions.

John Cena had redemption at his fingertips but will have to wait until the next pay-per-view to fully grasp it. The Usos had their title reigns end and now have to begin a new pursuit of the tag team titles.

The Oct. 26 pay-per-view won't just be a string of sequels, though. Bray Wyatt, Nikki Bella and The Bunny promise to go from benchwarmers to featured performers. New opportunities await them as they continue ongoing stories or in the case of Wyatt venture out on a new hunt.

Hints from recent programming or from the happenings at Night of Champions provide a glimpse into the next part of the WWE calendar: Hell in a Cell.

The Bunny and Adam Rose vs. Slater Gator (Pre-Show)

The man in the rabbit suit has made Titus O'Neil and Heath Slater a pair of unhappy, bruised partners.

During the numerous recent matches pitting Adam Rose against either O'Neil or Slater, The Bunny has played a major role. He has been crashing into and superkicking Slater Gator, providing the memorable moments in those bouts.

That hasn't led to an official match, but that is set to change at Hell in a Cell.

As reported by PWInsider Elite (subscription required) (h/t Wrestling Inc), there has been talk of eventually having Darren Young be The Bunny. Should that happen in a story involving O'Neil, it allows WWE to get more juice out of Young's bad blood with his old partner.

A tag match between these duos is the kind of silly fare that often serves as filler on pay-per-view pre-shows. It's the Hornswoggle vs. El Torito of the moment.

Rusev vs. Big Show

Rusev dominated Mark Henry at Night of Champions. After leaving Henry clutching his back in pain, Rusev raised his arms in victory, the Russian flag hanging behind him.

That was not a prelude to another battle but the final one. Henry cried before the bout. Michael Cole posed the question of who could stop Rusev.

Take that all as hints that Henry is only getting one shot at Rusev.

Henry's tag team partner will now be looking for some revenge. Big Show offers Rusev another large challenge, another powerhouse to conquer.

Facing Big Show continues the trend of Rusev facing increasingly prominent opponents.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (Hell in a Cell)

Roman Reigns was supposed to face his former comrade Seth Rollins, but a medical situation diverted those plans. WWE.com reported that Reigns had to undergo emergency hernia surgery over the weekend.

Rollins mocked Reigns for getting injured then demanded that he be given the victory by forfeit.

The smug Superstar then issued an open challenge. Dean Ambrose then charged out of a taxi, seething with fury.

The two restarted their feud with a brawl in the stands.

That surprise return and unsanctioned fight is the perfect setup for the next chapter in this intense rivalry. After the violence each man delivered in his previous bout, there is more than sufficient animosity to stick them into the Hell in a Cell.

Their storyline is perfectly timed for a collision in that cage.

Sheamus vs. Bray Wyatt (United States Championship)

4 of 7

In order not to overdo the rematches at Hell in a Cell, WWE will seek out a man who didn't make the Night of of Champions card.

Sheamus and Cesaro put on a great match at Sunday's pay-per-view—one could argue even the best of the night. There's certainly logic in letting the two brawlers go at it again, but there's a good chance the company views this as the climax of their start-and-stop feud.

Cesaro has been battling since spring, including colliding inside the Elimination Chamber and in a U.S. title match at Payback.

It doesn't look as if WWE wants to hand the title to The King of Swing with how often that he has lost now. That's bad news for the Swiss strongman, but this is Wyatt's chance to climb out of his current funk.

Wyatt has no rival and little direction. Stepping up to clash with Sheamus allows him to gain some momentum.

It also gives Sheamus a formidable challenger, one who will leave him just as bruised and sore as Cesaro did.

The Usos vs. Goldust and Stardust (Tag Team Championship)

Goldust and Stardust outlasted The Usos at Night of Champions, dodging the high-flyers well enough to leave Tennessee with the tag team titles.

Good chemistry between the duos and a bit of a fluky win point to Hell in a Cell hosting a rematch between them. The teams delivered one of the night's better matches, and WWE will be happy to pit them against each other again.

Stardust earned a three-count with a schoolboy pin. That's not the kind of victory that ends a rivalry but one that is more of a transition to a new clash.

There aren't a succession of top babyface teams to challenge them at the moment anyway. For now, the top of the division belongs to the two-brother teams.

Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella

Nikki Bella failed to capture the Divas title at Night of Champions. AJ Lee took the belt from Paige instead, an outcome sure to anger Nikki.

WWE has been highlighting her feud with Brie so much in the last few months that it cannot be over. You don't have them catfight so often and bring in Jerry Springer not to get a match out of it.

Look for Nikki to take her frustration out on her sister. That should lead to the grudge match that WWE has been building toward.

The Divas title has been defended on every pay-per-view since Elimination Chamber. Being overshadowed by the two stars from Total Divas will break that streak.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena (Hell in a Cell)

7 of 7

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena is set to be a trilogy.

In their second clash this year, Cena looked like he had The Beast defeated, but Rollins and his briefcase ran the train off the track. Rollins attacked Cena, hit a Curb Stomp on Lesnar and attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Cena prevented that from happening, chasing Rollins away like a rat.

That lack of definitive conclusion means that fans are getting Lesnar and Cena head-to-head again. Cena can claim he deserves another shot as he didn't lose. Lesnar can accept in order to prove that Cena cannot beat him.

Jamming them into the Hell in a Cell makes use of the pay-per-view's gimmick and provides this next showdown with a climactic feel.

With a lack of viable challengers on tap, WWE is going with repetition here. Cena gets one more crack at the suplexing powerhouse.
