WrestlingInc.com provided their reaction to Miz's win:
Ziggler took to Twitter to apologize for his performance:
The two combatants have gone through an extended feud that predates SummerSlam. Ziggler won the match at the marquee PPV in August to regain the IC title, but The Miz has been relentless with his pursuit of the belt.
Ziggler and Miz have exchanged wins along the way, and the WWE creative team has booked both men to look like viable threats coming into the Night of Champions match. Add in all of the hilarious antics of The Miz and his stunt double Damien Mizdow, and this has been a midcard feud the WWE Universe can get behind.
A win for The Miz almost guarantees another month of this storyline. For the old-school wrestling fans who appreciate the comedic impact of this program, the idea of having a third match in the series at Hell in a Cell will result in several more segments featuring Ziggler, Miz and their stunt doubles.
This angle is what comedy and wrestling should be—unlike the storylines featuring Santino Marella randomly selling hard iced tea or burgers.
After so much time has been invested in this midcard storyline, the culmination of the angle has to be something memorable. There is no way this is the match that takes place in the steel structure, but a stipulation would be ideal to make the third match feel unique and special.
Just as Shawn Michaels and Rick Martel had a match at SummerSlam 1992 where neither man could hit the other in the face, this would be the perfect time for a fun stipulation like that again. Some hardcore fans may complain about a comedic stipulation, but it fits the storyline and would be a fitting end to the humorous program.
Ziggler deserves to be one of the top faces in the company, and eventually moving away from The Miz (possibly to feud with Bray Wyatt, per F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com) will be exactly what the doctor ordered for The Showoff.
